I bet they had a ball. There was a picture on CNN of people making a snowman in Tucson. The snowman was about 6 feet tall! That takes a lot of snow.

You can go up to the central mountains most years and experience snow, but it is rare to find much of it your backyard in the desert.

Snow... tugging at the old heart-strings, eh?

Go on, admit it, you all miss it. Most of you will say "no", but once it snows PHX seems to come alive with a joy that cant be seen on normal days. I remember a few years back in Scottsdale, my FIL's neighbors were all outside, witnessing a few short lived flurries, smiling like there was no tomorrow. It only lasted for literally 2 minutes, but they loved it. Then the kids were gathering the frost on the windshields and trying to make snowballs from the little frost they could find. Actually, I think my FIL said they moved back to MI a few months later. So, do you all miss it or what?

No. We do not miss it. I think my husband started to cry while pumping gas.

I think people miss change. Snow was something different from the unrelenting sun and heat of this god-awful place. My friend lives in Seattle and loves coming down here during the winter for the sun, not because he wants to join the countless leathery locals but because it is different. There is something to be said for change and you can certainly get too much of a good thing.
