Moving to LHV
Hello all I need some honest answers. I am single 47yr old female no kids just a small dog (my kid) I'am thinking of moving to lake havasu from south florida. I am not a big drinker, but enjoy going out (more of a people watcher). I Have lived in the bahamas so I know what living in a tourist town is like. I have read tons of negitive things and moving there a vey few positive. Is it really that bad?

Havasu is hot, dry, hot, touristy, hot, somewhat wild and wooly. I would wonder why a single woman would want to live there...but if you are big into water sports, the river/lake would provide some entertainment, I suppose. Good luck wherever you land

I moved from Tampa to Havasu last year. On the plus side, the cost of living is cheaper. On the down side, good paying jobs are difficult to find. I currently live in Vegas but have not ruled out moving back there one day. My advice would be to have at least six months living expenses to survive on. Good Luck.

The Lake of course is the big draw. So fishing and boating are huge. Other outdoor activities like mountain biking, ATV'ing or off-road exploring are big pasttimes in this area. Just using Havasu as a base to explore Arizona will keep you busy for a long time. Parker which is just down the road has probably the largest flea market in the world that lasts for a few months. Vegas is about 3 hours away, and Laughlin which is another Casino town is under 90 minutes away. Havasu has a microbrewery. The London Bridge is a fun place to walk along the river, and there are shops and restaraunts there. There are of course the usual stuff like a movies and bowling. There's a new mall. A lot of people ride horses, at least in my area they do (I'm about an hour from Havasu). What is it that you like to do?

kdog you pretty much said everything I like to do, except the casino after living in the bahamas where you werent allow to gamble its not a big deal to me. Being that I live in florida I love the beach and the ocean and was wondering how living on a lake would compare. Plus I get the feeling that alot of younger people frequent the lake, dont want to get stuck being the old lady in town!!!!HAHAHA

No, you don't understand. LHC is a huge retirement community. You'll be a spring chicken there.

Whippersnapper!
(I will be age 51 next month so I can get away with saying it )
On a more serious note: each major metro area in Mohave County has its own vibe.
I have lived in Bulhead, Havasu as well as Kingman.
