Hey there!

Thanks for reminding me where it was! Just across from the windmill is right before the right hand corner to go up the hill onto the bluff.

That's a pretty steep power requirement for the pump. They should have used a DC pump instead of an AC pump. Well, let's not look the gift horse in the mouth I guess. A generator is going to be necessity up there anyway.

FYI, Gallup, NM is about the same distance as ShowLow time wise. Driving to Gallup seemed a little faster to me because it was all freeway driving. BUT, there is a slow down up 191 because they are working on the bridge (it washed out a few months ago) and it's down to one lane. So you might have to wait for the light to let oncoming traffic through.

ShowLow and Gallup both have Home Depot and Walmart right next to each other if you want building supplies and groceries.

And yes, the well is a bonus. Better than nothing for sure!

Now that's interesting, I never considered Gallup vs ShowLow. Springerville and Eager have big-box stores too and are a lot closer than going all the way to ShowLow, and even the Snowflake/Taylor areas aren't too bad and they have "some" bigger stores.

St. Johns, as small as it is, does have a decent/well stocked grocery store. At least that's pretty close.

I'm off to look at trailers today. Looking to pick up a 16ft dual axle utility trailer with ramp and brakes. Gotta have something to haul up building supplies with

Yes, if we just wanted groceries, we'd go to Wilburs (I think that's the name) in St. Johns. We've been there a couple of times.

If you have an afternoon off, check out Greer. It's near Springerville. It's a nice place to hang out.

Oh, we did check out the manufactured home place in Show Low. They said they will be selling homes with a solar power set up this fall. They didn't seem to think it would be a problem getting one of their homes out to the land either. Just an option if you don't want to build your own structure or live in a trailer/tent.

See ? It's working already **** has the trailer. I'll get the water buffalo (water tank on wheels).

I really want to get the barn ( 36 x 36 Standard 4-Stall Horse Barn with 12 x 36 Open Shed Row) up before I build a house. So then there's another issue we need to find a solution for - Security. I don't mind sharing the barn but we'll need some sort of way to maintain equipment without it walking away.

My game plan is to get a Bobcat so we can dig foundations and do landscaping. Surely someone else will need that capability. Once I am able to retire the girl and I would live in the house trailer (for a short period), build the barn, then move into the barn (which would be more house than barn-like for a duration) and start on the house.

We're leaning towards a modular that we can adopt change. Now if the 401K would all bounce back I'd have a smile on my face ! What was the modular place in Show Low called ? Did they have a web site ?

I am not sure what the name of their company is. But it's not that hard to find. They are located at that last main intersection before you head out of ShowLow to St. Johns. It's near that new Toyota dealership building going in.

As for security, I am hoping we could have some kind of "neighborhood" watch. Maybe, once we get to know each other, we could keep an eye on each others property and if we see something wrong, we send off a phone call. I'm sure we are all aware that anyone wanting something would have plenty of time to take it.

Oh and I'm all for having a web site.

Hi to everyone in Sierra Highlands.... I'm the other half of Robert.....
I work at home....Interior Design/Architectural CAD Tech.....I am all for the Website too, and would help in anyway I can....Have open days from time to time pending my work load, so putting together a mailer or whatever would expedite everybody's communication and property development, I'm all for it happening. I have been eagerly working away on our own plans and layouts and can offer some assistance and or ideas....look forward to the first barn raising party!!!

Default Whats everyone's parcel numbers???

HI...everyone....it's Robert & Pam we liked to says "HI" with names....what's are all you guys names and which parcels do you own? we are #77....I have spent sometime reading thru postings from a yahoo group the Woodland Valley Ranch posted, they are just south of us and have a really great group of people helping each other out and creating a "neighborhood watch" of sorts to protect their property, some have already moved trailers or are about to start building...they have been posting weather and road conditions too, there is a guy which is up there 3-4 days a week, grading and clearing roads, him and his wife own property and have horses there already....anyway if there is info you are looking for they seem to be pretty good at getting posting out to help everyone look them up, there was also a guy over there that was from Sierra Highlands I sent him a posting and told him about us...haven't heard back...I have spoke with a couple Becky & Matt, they have a family member in SHR # 89...so the family is growing!!!!!
