Nice to meet you Robert and Pam. My name is Beth. My other half is John. He's the one who found this message board. I am not comfortable posting which one is our lot since Sierra Highlands web site shows the layout of the properties. But we are very interested in meeting everyone who have properties and willing to help.

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted back in awhile I've been extremely busy at work these days... Hey at least I have a job right now
My name is Tony and my better half is Madonna. We own lot 140 at the top of the hill when your coming up SHR Road from the Jaraloosa Draw. Nothing much there right now except little orange flags where we "think" stuff will go over the years.
I too plan on heading up sometime in the late winter/early spring and start building my first building. It'll be a 192 sq/ft 12x16 Utility building that will eventually serve as the power/communications center once I'm up there fulltime... but in the meantime it'll be a cozy cabin upgrade from tent camping
Since I've been really busy, I haven't had the time to set up our own little community yet, but thanks for letting me know you like the idea. Look for it to go up definitely before X-Mas and hopefully before Thanksgiving.
I'll post up the web address here when it's ready to go!
Tony

HI Hi Tony & Madonna!
Well....not much I can say about Robert's "silly" sense of humor, I'm thankful we have 40 ac's to get lost on : )
Anyway....I have heard from the guy at Woodland Valley(below us) John & Katie, they are going up to Sierra this weekend and check out some lots, ours 77 & 97 for grading job....not sure when we will be actually doing the grading but they will let me know.....and if anyone else is interested he can save us some $$$ cause once he drags the equipment up there he can do several parcel at the same time....very nice man... was referred by several people at Woodland's... him and his wife have a parcel there and have started quite a networking for the community....I think I have you the web posting link for Woodland on one of my first postings, you can go thru it and read what they have been doing...take care

LOL. You guys are too funny. Yes, we are quite interested in having our lot graded. Let us know some info and contact.
Pam, during the warmer season, we usually try and go up about twice a month (every other weekend).
Are you guys all in the Phoenix area when you're not up there? Maybe we could get together down here and discuss things too. But we do look forward to seeing other people up there too. We kind of feel like we are the only people that exist when we are up there.

Hi Tony and Madonna! Is that a premade structure you plan to have or is it something you are designing? I think any solid structure would definitely be a step up from a tent! There are those few days that the winds can get pretty wild. During the summers, even if the days are warm, the nights are so perfect! But there is something just bleh about getting all warm next to a nice campfire and then walking into a cold tent.

Dagoranch, I applaud your sense of adventure. I looked at property in Cochise County and people thought I was nuts when I said I was only going to camp on the land until I retired, if that ever is possible in this economic mess we're in. I spent 2 weeks tent camping in the Chiricuhuas and had a great time hiking and exploring the area. I was however taken aback by the article I read in the Tucson Weekly about the crime people are experiencing because of the illegals and the drug runners. I'm not naive enough to believe that by leaving the big city I'd be free of crime but as a single woman I do have consider my safety. That being said, I may have to learn how to shoot..........rattlesnakes, that is ; )

We tented into September/October last year up there. Even though the days are gorgeous up there, it's just a tad too cold at night to tent. I think one night it got down to 27 degrees. And as I mentioned before, the winds can get pretty rough up there. Our tent entrance caved in on one of those days.
I asked Jim at the office if he's seen any snakes. If I recall correctly, he said in the six years he's been there, he's only seen two snakes. One was harmless. But we did recently see the skin shedding from a snake ...hopefully it had blown quite a ways before it reached our property.
Other than that, the only creatures we've seen up there are cows, bunnies, birds, various rodents, bugs , and we do hear coyotes at night.
