Red face I asked this question on the post of Lake havasu City. I have a question I need responses about.

I am 54 now and I plan on a visit to LHC in the Fall of 2009 for a job interview for veterinary assistance. I will probably be alone (husband will be working back here in Michigan). Just how safe is it for a woman of 55 to be there alone?
I have befriended a woman Realtor that lives there and hopefully she will show me the ropes and I can hang around with her when I get some time to site see. I also have been in contact with a person from City Forum
that I think will be around for me. So maybe it won't be as scary as I am thinking.
So people, tell me your opinion.
Thanks. Am looking forward to this adventure!

Lake Havasu City scary?
I guess you could get run over by a retired guy in a golf cart. LHC is right up there with South Central LA.
OK, get a grip. LHC is one of the safest places you can go to in Arizona, although a lot can happen to a place in a year, so you might want to check back next year prior to the "big adventure". What exactly are you afraid of? Fear the heat. That's about it.

"I have a question I need responses about". How 'bout, "could someone please respond"? Just sayin...

If you are looking forward to an adventure and someplace new, and if you have been to LHC and like it there, then go for it. It's not a place I would care for but not because of crime or such...I just don't like the desert and the heat of LHC. I myself am planning to relocate...on my own...to Idaho after I retire. It's going to be an adventure for me, too. Life is short, if you want to do this, then do it. But please visit the area first...in July & August.

I had no problem letting my 14 year old daughter walk two streets to her friends house. My wife would walk the dogs at night (when it cools down to 115F). Never felt like I needed to carry a gun in the car. Probably the safest place I've ever lived. AZ is an open-carry state yet I've never seen anyone in LHC with a holstered gun.

Actually, I'm a pretty nice guy. But when I read the title of your thread, basically demanding answers from us, my tone did change a bit towards being a "jerk" i guess. Don't care for pushy people, that's all. And if you re-read my post, I did answer your question, (as instructed) and offered a little friendly advice. I'll bend over backwards to help someone who asks "please". Nothing more than that.
Hope you have a good trip. As some of the others have said, make sure you visit in the summer to see if LHC is what you really want. The summers are far worse there than in the Phoenix area. Almost un-real at times.

We've had a second home in LHC for about ten years and I have always felt safe there. I have gone out myself with my kids when my husband can't get off work and I have always felt comfortable going to the store or down to the lake. Havasu is very safe.
