I don't know anything about gay couples or living in the west valley, but I do know from traveling all over the state that Verizon has the best cell phone service. Hope this helps!

Default I dunno- I've heard good things about Alltel

Seems like a TON of dropped calls.

We first went with T-Mobile and then switched a year later to SprintPCS. Not that anything was wrong with T-Mobile, we just needed a different plan that they didn't offer at the time. I can count on one hand the number of dropped calls we've had with SprintPCS within the last several years we've had them, and that includes times when we were travelling all over and in analog roaming areas.

Just a hint, but if you do any day trips in AZ, make sure your phone is analog AND digital. When you get out into places like the Joshua Tree National Park, you'll have a hard time finding a digital signals. Also, if you travel quite a bit, like we do, Sprint has a plan for $5/month where you won't be charged roaming fees, ever. My husband travels a TON and this saves us a small fortune.

I know a lot of cell providers get dinged for their customer support departments, but we've had pretty good experiences with both T-Mobile and SprintPCS. It's more difficult to get a native English speaking CSR with Sprint, but when you get someone understandable, they're usually happy to help you. T-Mobile's CSR's were absolutely phenomenal when my husband's first phone was stolen. They were fantastic at helping us get credited for what the person downloaded.

Also, if it makes any difference to you, we don't have a land line in our home. My husband and I only use our cell phones so we use them quite a bit.
So --- I was reading earlier this year, that Consumer Reports said that Alltel scored high Customer Ratings. I re-found the link just incase you want to check it out.

Default Qwest....yea or nay

I am moving to Tucson in the next few days, Friday the 4th actually. I have signed up w/qwest for cable and DSL. I have not signed up for their mobile phone service yet, but am considering it, as it looked like a pretty good offer. I am currently with AT&T and have found some frustrating "no bars" areas here in Ohio, and have heard that their coverage is not very good in AZ.
My internet service will be cut off on Friday AM , but I will have my DSL in AZ hopefully w/in 24 hrs of arriving and am keeping my Cingular/ATT service until I decide.
Any info would be appreciated, ASAP! I would especially like to know how Qwest stacks up against the competition.

I am moving to AZ summer 08, but I spent summer 07 in AZ just checking things out. I live in OH and use AT&T. I have never had any problems with my service, even when I wasn't working and didn't pay them for three months. When I was in AZ almost every call got dropped. Also, my phone died three times-and I mean I couldn't even turn it on. I called customer service and was told I have to turn it off for at least five minutes everyday so they can update stuff. I find that odd because I have had the same phone for three years prior and never once turned it off. Now that I have been back in OH for over a year, I have not had any problems. I would definitely look into other carriers for AZ.
