Default PHX to yuma? pros & cons needed

Hi! This is my first post here. I am 24 years old and have lived all over the country (CA, ND, MI, TX, FL, AZ) and I have been in Phoenix for the last 10yrs. I hate it here. Its not really the weather so much as nothing really to do. I do love riding my sport bike (07 Kawasaki ZX-6R) so that is one activity I enjoy A LOT here.

so...I am trying to find a job in CA but there are few opportunities in my field right now so I figured I would find a place somewhere, anywhere to gain experience and wait. I have applied to jobs all over the country and have gotten one possible opportunity to move to Yuma......

I am already used to the weather and all the Hispanics and snowbirds. I am a city girl and have never lived in a small town but I have spent a lot of time up in Prescott, Wickenburg, and Yarnell riding around so I do know what that is like. I would love to live in the northern AZ small towns more than Yuma, but that isn't an option.

I am not into lakes/rivers and the "dunes" . I prefer riding on real roads up in the mtns and I love the ocean SO much and would prefer a pool to the river any day. What else is there to do? Are there any good clubs/bars? places to hang out? What does a young single white "city slicker" female do after work or on weekends? Parks get old after awhile but are good sometimes I guess. What types of places to eat here? is there a place like trader joes or whole foods to go grocery shopping?

The good thing about Yuma is its 200 miles from my friends in PHX and 200 miles from my parents in CA and if I get the job, I will have fri-sun to play. So this is a huge plus but I can't go on a road trip EVERY weekend. But I have a feeling I will be more depressed and feeling more trapped in AZ like I do right now in PHX. The job would pay extremely well (15k more than current job) so that would make me less stressed about money and its cheaper to liver in Yuma. It seems like a good thing and a bad thing to be in Yuma. I'm not sure how I would feel....... thoughts?

thanks-
Bikerchick

and BTW- no yuma/AZ bashing, I already dislike AZ and know why it sux, I don't need any more thoughts on that.

Well I just moved here from San Diego on July 18th into the foothills of Yuma. The people here are nice, the weather I hear for 9 - 10 months of the year are nice also. My GF and I bought a house with a pool and the pool is always nice and warm . Clubs? I have yet to find any clubs here its pretty dead, pretty much just local bars. Really so far all it seems is just going off roading, drinking beer at bars /playing pool darts and stuff like that.

Overall tho my GF and I like it here, the housing is cheap and weather isnt as bad as people try to make it seem. I have yet to exp the snowbirds tho =X

thanks.

the weather I'm used to, so it isn't an issue for me. It is like 10 degrees warmer than PHX tho, which will suck on those triple digits months lol....

and the snowbirds will be coming soon... winter is approaching....

Get yourself a sand rail and some ATV's and you're golden. Yuma is pretty desolate...I only go there to camp at the dunes and make a serious ruckus.

i just moved back from Yuma to Phx. I moved there in March to work on a construction site. There is nothing to do really. I was in phx every weekend. there are no clubs. Most single woman just chase the military men. If you are doing it for work purposes then go for it; If you are doing it to have fun then you need to skip it!

only the boring are bored.....

if you can't find anything in Phx "to do", you apparently aren't even getting out of bed....there are millions of people who'd love to live here if they could and you're moaning because Phx isn't keeping you entertained?....

wondering if you ever made that move to Yuma....we never heard back from you.....
