I don't recommend moving to the Phoenix area. It is getting too crowded here and there is too much traffic. I don't know what part of Virginia you live in, but I know that northern Virginia, in the Washington D.C. area, has among the highest per-capita incomes in the USA, so that would be a place that is better to live in than Arizona.

We are staying at the Grace Inn at Ahwatukee which is located on I-10 and Elliott, the crossroads of Phoenix, Tempe and Chandler. The address is 10831 S. 51st. It states 3 stars. I can afford a 3 1/2, but anything above that is a little pricey for us. I still have time to change our hotel. Was also looking at The Park Plaza Phoenix North. We won't be in any hotel a lot, since we will be out with my husband's mother most of the time, but just wanted a decent hotel located in a good part of the city. I may just bite the bullet and stay at the Pointe South Mountain. It is not much over my price range (husband stated don't go over a certain amount; lol!)
Thanks for the help and advice,
Gina

Ahwatukee is generally safe; I don't think you should have concerns about staying there. The Pointe South Mountain would be nicer in terms of scenery and recreational facilities, but those amenities may not matter if you are spending most of the time with family. The Park Plaza North is way on the other side of town. I'd switch to that location only if it puts you closer to family.

I agree, your hotel should be just fine. Ahwatukee is a beautiful place, in my opinion. Park Plaza North is near my home. I attend conferences there occasionally. If you need to be more north than go there, and it's a very safe area as well. I think you're doing great picking out hotels!

Thanks, so much. I will just keep it where we are at the Grace Inn. Can't wait to get away from one big city to another! lol! We live in Plano, TX, which is 20 miles north of Dallas. Our suburb is growing so fast, with young couples and families. Thanks again for all of the wonderful feedback!

I was just looking at real estate in Plano, TX. My friend wants to move to the DFW area. What is it like over there?

Plano is the place to live if you have children. We have the best school district. So much better than Dallas or Ft. Worth. It is crowded, but nothing like the DFW area. There are single people who live in Plano, and work dowtown Dallas. We have a rail system that they ride to work, which makes it nice, with the raising cost in gas. I highly recommend the Plano area.

Funny thing about opinions, we all have them My husband just flew in from VA. WA DC. and was beyond grateful to be back in crowded Phoenix. He said outside of PA, he has not seen a more depressing area in years. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

thats right, because Yuma is the wild wild west.
Its dusty, and the only real traffic we get is all the old people in the winter time.
Theres nothing to do here and its full of us(mexicans).
I just hate it,when my daughter wants to go to the beach in the summer and I have to drive 2 1/4 hours to San Diego.
Or when I want to go eat some awesome chinese food in Mexico(much better than the buffet junk available in the US)
I hate it,when im driving down the street and I see more than 2 friends or coworkers.
I hate it people actually care and actually become my friends.Because they are not fake.
I hate the fact that I work 4 minutes away from my house.and the fact that the owner of the company, the general manager, the manager and I live within a 3 mile radius.
May GOD help me,overcome this life.
Life in phoenix is so much better, with all the serial killers running around.I hope to move there, soon.

MAB,
Where in Mexico (Algodones I'm assuming) do you get Chinese food? I have been there several times for lunch/shopping but never had Chinese food there, I would love to check it out oneday.
