Yes it's crowded and it feels crowded and the crowds and traffic will get on your last nerve. I agree with Ponderosa if I don't get to Walmart before 7 am I don't go.

Yes, very crowded - we are in a desert trying to squeeze people into neighborhoods on land that they can find that is either not owned by the American Natives(which is a lot) or land that is able to be built on. SO the homes are close together, the traffic is horrendous and the lines are long.

My first weekend here I made the mistake of heading to the Walmart down the road - FORGET it ! It was worse than anytime at Xmas I have seen. I learned to go late at nite if I want anything but mostly stay away from it altogether - I buy most anything online from Walmart.com or Target.com so yes Arizona is crowded and supposed to be getting worse

If you want your Walmarts and your malls, the place you live is going to be crowded. There are plenty of uncrowded places in America, but you aren't going to find your Walmarts and malls. Life is a series of trade-offs. You have to think clearly about what is most important to you, and choose wisely. (It always helps to have an escape plan)!

And life in Phoenix is terrible as well. Maybe marginally better than Yuma, but not much.

Phoenix is in the DESERT. Unfortunately, some people don't seem to be able to comprehend what that means until after they move out here.

The Phoenix area is alot quieter than a place like L.A., If you're looking for space there should be some properties out in Queen Creek for that. But there are houses next to eachother here as well. I think Queen Creek would be a safe bet for what you are looking for.

Las Cruces NM
If you are seeking warmer weather, without as much crowding, consider Las Cruces. We are at 75,000 population, and there are no adjacent cities, with the exception of El Paso, which is 50 miles away. The desert climate is slightly cooler here, because we are at 4000 feet elevation. The negative, of course, that goes along with the lower population, is job availability. We have White Sands Missile Range here, which is a big employer. If you go three directions from Las Cruces (north, east or west) it is barren maybe 10 minutes after leaving the city. It looks like someone dropped a bomb off here.
