Exclamation Two person family might move to AZ. Help please!

Does anyone recommend where a hairdresser would be able to make a decent living? (At a resort, or upscale salon).

Also, where there is low crime, but also 700-1000 dollar rent, and a good music scene, where i could make a band, and potentially get signed.

We have a home in Casa Grande. A growing area that just build a multi million dollor shopping area. We bought a home almost 2 years ago with the intent of moving. My husbands company pulled his transfer and we haven't move yet. We have a partially furnished home that we may consider renting to the right people. no children, no pet

If you want to make a go of your music Arizona is not the place to go in my opinion. I'm sure you know of the three biggies, L.A., New York or Nashville. When I lived in Philadelphia I used to call New York companies on a daily basis developing contacts and then eventually getting meetings and then hopefully getting "listenings" as they call them.

Tough biz so good luck to you. Being as you are out west I would suggest first off to try the jungle baby just don't let them sweet talk you into the needle.

well yeah of course, the thing is, we are trying arizona because of the change of pace, and its not TOO far from LA.

AJester,
I would suggest you look for a home in a newly developed area, the prices will be right around the range you are looking for, and you'll find that within those areas there are a lot of families, which will be a steady clientèle. Now, if you are looking for a higher class salon, that will have those who are willing to pay a steeper price for a good hairdresser then you'll want to go to Scottsdale/Arrowhead/Paradise Valley/Biltmore Area because of course you'll be getter better tips/wages but it's a bit more cut-throat in the ritzy areas. Most of the salons I have worked for have been on a station rental basis, so I am going to tell you that for the most part the majority of the non-chain salons are set up like that, so keep that in mind. As far as finding an area where Music is predominant, I wouldn't worry so much because you can literally get from any point A to any point B within 30-45 min, that's just how our Valley is setup, just jump on one of the freeways and you're there. Just about any town you live in here has bars with open-Mic nights, all you have to do is figure out if you want to live on the north, east , south or west side. I myself live in the Far Northwest Valley (El Mirage/Surprise) and I love it I have bounced between styling and serving and I have been able to make descent money and struggle with my music as well. All you have to do is find out the hot spots where ever you choose to live and get your foot in long enough to show 'em what you got...with both the hair styling and music gigs, and you'll be golden!!! I hope this was at least a little help. Best of luck to you! You know how the business is just keep your heads up!!!
