Hello there,
So I'm going to be moving to the Scottsdale area in about 3 weeks and I'm having a really hard time trying to find a "Decent" apartment complex in that area. I have been on some other boards and cannot get a good answer. Basically I'm looking for a 1 bedroom between 650-750 that is not a complete s hole. Does anyone know the names of any places that is in or around Scottsdale/Phoenix that is ok that is not in the complete ghetto? I would even take a nice part of Phoenix but know nothing about it all I read is that its completely ghetto.I have been on Rent.com and the reviews these people write basically trash every complex that there is. I'm starting to think its a little far fetched that every place is that bad and its just losers who have nothing better to do so they go on and just trash the places. I have no real other stipulations except for a pool, and close to the Casino Arizona. Appreciate any help that you could give me. |

I just moved back to NH after living in AZ for 7 yrs. I spent some time looking at apts but decided to come back east instead for many different reasons. I also read the reviews on rent.com and all the negative commments were outta hand. There are new apts everywhere and they all look pretty nice from the outside. Check out places near desert ridge off Tatum and the 101. I forget most of the names, but ill try to get back to you...

I agree. I hate Phoenix after moving here from the East Coast. Worst experience of my life. The apartments are dumps and the houses are just as bad.
I am moving to Boston North End in May. Can't wait to get back east. |

You may need to up your price range a bit, somewhere from $750-950. To be in Scottsdale and in a good area, it's pricey. But it is worth the money.
I lived in lots of apartments over the years and I don't think any of them were that great. There's always something that you won't like. I'd take them with a grain of salt. Go with anything that says "luxury". |

You people obviously don't get to many parts of Phoenix if you think it is ghetto!!! Are you forgetting Phoenix is about 500 square miles? There are many nice area's to live and not be in the ghetto.
I lived in a Mark Taylor apartment on 44th and 202 which was fine. Easy freeway access. There are a few apartment complexes in that area along with Arcadia which you might want to look into. $900-$1000 would be a better price to start off if you want something nice. Look into Trillium @ Washington and Center parkway in Tempe as well. |

I found this place last night which seems to be good. Nice placea and right in my price range (750-769) and close to where I will be working. Anyone have any thoughts on this place? www.TatumGardens.com 15425 North Tatum Boulevard Phoenix, AZ 85032 The North End? Good luck. I lived there for 3 years, Outrageously expensive, NO PARKING,Gooba Soprano wannabe mobsters eveywhere that hate you for living in there neighborhood and Chubby girls with attitudes all over the place. Mix that with Miserable weather 9 months out of the year and you have yourself a miserable situation. |

I would recommend living as close to Old Town Scottsdale as possible. Within your price range I think you might be able to find some places in South Scottsdale which would put you in between Old Town and Mill Ave in Tempe. That will put you right in the middle of all the "hot" AZ chicks. I also think it would be really close to the casino which (I think) is on the 101. And the North End is expensive compared to out here. But if you want cheap, move to Iowa. You get what you pay for (Boston, NYC, SF, DC, etc). |

Tatum Gardens?!?!?! NO WAY!!!!! It's in a great area, but the complex is old and gross. Unless they have completely remodeled EVERYTHING, I wouldn't live there. I know they repainted it and looks even more ugly. The apartments smelled of cat urine and there were big roaches.
This is just what I saw back when I visited it there. |
