Kingman or Albuquerque
I want to know what others think. After I sell my property here in Mo. I am wanting to be out in the Desert. I want to know about the jobs, tax's the employment rate for both. I have heard that the unemployment rate is real low and that to me sounds good. For the rate here is way up to 11%
So I am torn, by going to either place.
Plus do you all think that after the election is done and over that things will get back to normal. I am really hoping so .
I am into looking in the kingman/golden valley, for the possibility of a job opening at the casino in Laughlin.
But found a home in Abq. in my price range that is just beautiful, but no job at the college until I get there.
Opinions anyone.
Thanks,
Anita

wow, that is a hard one;
Albuquerque is a mid sized town, KIngman is small: the drive from Kingman to Laughlin is about 45 minutes but that isn't bad.
The weather is better in Albuquerque and there is a whole lot more to do, plu you have better shopping and a very nice airport, but the cost of living in Kingman would be lower.
You say you found a house in ABQ, are you sure of the neighborhood? Albuquerque can be very nice or not so nice, with a fairly high crime rate plus some serious government corruption (more than in most places)
I think your choice should depend on what your interests are, do you have a family to consider and having a job is another issue.
Will things improve after the election? Right away, probably not, but all things change from time to time, what goes up has to come down, it is now down and will go back up. The job market will probably not improve for a year or so at the earliest. This is just my opinion..

Disagree about Albuquerque weather being better than Kingman's; the winters in the latter community are almost 10 degrees warmer.
As for commuting between Kingman and Laughlin: it is almost 40 miles one way and too Hwy 68 is a 6% grade for 12 miles--------my ears hated it (popping, etc).

[i] guess it depends on what you consider good versus bad weather? I like the change of seasons in Albuquerque and the summers are cooler.

Kdog, I am sorry that i did indeed have another thread like this. Until now my husband was not going to move with me. He has since decided that his health was more of a concern with the weather getting colder here. I do regret the other thread. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I am the opposite: coming from a '4 season' climate------------I prefer warm 12 months out of the year. And; Kingman barely makes the cut in the winter (too cold at night).
