Can anyone tell me ...

I have read again and again on these posts that Flagstaff is too expensive to afford to live there. Well what if a single person moved there with a career of an RN. Would this be affordable? I am pondering a move there within the next 6 months but dont want to get all moved in and realize I can't afford it

It would be best to check out the cost of housing first and the average pay for an RN in Flagstaff. I have a friend that's an RN there, and I know she and her husband were considering moving to Prescott Valley because it was much more cost effective for them. She would get about the same money working for YRMC in Prescott or Prescott Valley, but the cost of housing was much less than in Flagstaff.

Flagstaff has often been regarded at the richest poorest town, being everything is high priced but the wages are way low. It does have nurse needs. However, I dont know what the rate is for an RN up there though. NAU + Tourist Town = Not The Greatest Place To Live.

An RN should be able to live comfortably in Flagstaff, unless you are into huge, expensive homes and fancy cars. No reason you could not find a decent place to live on a nurse's salary. I don't live in Flag but I have considered it often because it is a beautiful area. My career here in the Prescott area has kept me here...I visit Flag often.

All homes in Flagstaff are expensive. The 3br townhome I rent for $1125/month (a bargain) is worth $275K. To me, that is expensive for a twenty-five year old townhome.

Perhaps...but a single gal might not need a 3 bedroom townhome in town. What I'm saying is, nurse's make decent wages and I have three friends who live in the Prescott area on nurse's salaries. Flag cannot be more expensive than Prescott.

Actually Flag is quite a bit more expensive than Prescott. Go figure!
