I lived in San Diego,CA for 15 years and I had bad sinus problems there.
I moved to Yuma and my sinus problems went away. Perhaps my sinus was triggered by pollution and since Yuma has nowhere near the pollution SD has,I guess thats what dd it. Some people show allergies to dust and fine sand particles. And Yuma is pretty close to the American Sahara(imperial sand dunes). So maybe thats whats causing your allergies. |

I have always also had lots of allergies in arizona...what has been helping me is
Lots of orange juice colledial silver Nettle tea there are great supplements in the healt food store too. I don't believe in medical doctors, they ususally don't help for these kind of issues. Even I would take an antihistamine, the allergies are so bad, they don't always help, welcome to the club. I can't wait to move from AZ. |

I sometimes think about moving too. I am so sick of this and always taking antihistimines. I have a job here though and I really need the money.

I read bluebelts original posting here about persistent sinus and allergies. Just a few thoughts I might toss in. I've never lived in Yuma, but I drive though there many times a year when I go to Tucson to visit my mother. In fact, I'll be passing by there tomorrow.
Have you tried to figure out if the sinus or allergy is caused by something in or near the home or work? For example, if you take a week off work and say just stay around home for the vacation week, do the sinus or allergy problems slack off? If so, that mighty point to something work related as the cause. Or might be something related to all the agriculture activity nearby. Pesticide sprays? Or, what if you take some time off and go somewhere else in AZ for a few days, does that make any difference? It could be something in the carpets or in the home construction materials. Do you get enough fresh air into the house and is it kept dust free? I know people with allergy issues that tore out all carpet and fabric drapery in the house and put in all hard surface floors and pull down smooth window coverings. Got rid of all the frilly bed linens and thick comforters and went with washable thin blankets and simple linens. It made a huge difference. Could be the pillow itself. There's so many possibilities, it must be frustrating. |

I don't normally post on this Arizona forum, so first let me say Hello...I had suffered with sinus allergies for years. From doing extensive research into natural cures and remedies, one of the first things I learned was that dry air can lead to many sinus problems. It dries up the mucous membranes and leaves them vulnerable to viruses and bacteria and anything else that comes along that can irritate them. I am originally from NY and currently live in FL, and my problems seem much better with the humidity here. You may want to try a humidifier in your home, and another thing I found useful is something called Zicam, which is a line of products for sinus problems, allergies, etc. The products are all homeopathic and contain zinc, which is a natural healer. The stuff works great for colds, and they have other things for flu, allergies,etc.. Check out your local drugstore for these products and good luck, I feel for you!

Neil-Med Sinus Rinse has been a God-Send. I had a Walgreens Pharmacist recommend it and it's awesome. Get the starter kit (with the bottle) and try it. No burning sensation, but it will relieve pain and flush out the problem. It's got salt and baking soda in it. No harsh chemicals or drugs. About $12.
Good luck! |

Hey Ponderosa and others!
I use to live in the Phoenix/Glendale area of AZ...moved out from CA and I had REAL BAD allergies while in Phoenix. And I kept getting sick. So the doctor recommended Allegra-D and it worked like a charm! I took it everyday at first and then there came a point in time when i didn't need to take it anymore. Nasal sprays did not work for me (astellin, nasacort, nasonex, flonase---u name it). I've since moved back to CA and have a similar allergy problem. I've been getting sick once a month since last November and it would turn into a sinus/upper respiratory infection. I had no idea it was allergies acting up again. So the ENT specialist i saw wanted to put me on allergy medicine and i remembered "allegra-d" worked when i was in AZ so i asked if i could try that one again. Sure enough, it works! No more allergies and i can breathe out my nose again! Yay! I've only been back on Allegra-D for about a month, so I'll try to keep u posted as to whether or not i get sick again. |
