Sedona is known for it's beauty, above all else. There are plenty of restaurants and night spots as well as amazing shopping...but the main draw for many people is the outdoors activities, hikes, exploring. It is unquestionably one of America's most breath-taking places as far as scenery goes. It is not too far from the Grand Canyon as well as several well-known Indian ruins for day-time touristing...loys of history in Arizona in general. Have fun!

The church on the rock in Sedona. Very nice place to visit. The view is gorgeous from up there. =)

Suppose it's in the eye of the beholder. I'm down as Grand Canyon being breathtaking, but Sedona less so. New visitors? Do the drive down Oak Creek Canyon from Flagstaff into Sedona's rubber tomahawk shopping strip. Don't expect great food if you really know what great food is. Santa Fe is a place for that. Sedona is for hiking and biking amongst the red rocks, doing a jeep tour, getting a spa treatment, grabbing a soup and sandwich at Wildflower in the Hyatt complex, and kicking back in the evenings with one of Sedona's locally crafted brews. Oh yeah, nice sunsets too.

I like Flagstaff better than Sedona. I find Sedona too touristy, for me anyways.

I live in Sedona and love it's beauty however I would not say that it has any nightlife, other than dining out, and one movie theatre with about 5 or 6 movies. There are a couple of bars but I wouldn't go to them. Check the Creative Life Center and see if they have any interesting lectures. Bascially the sidewalks roll up here .
There is so much to do that you can get up early and poop yourself out by the evening so you don't want to go out so much. Hiking, tours, Red Rock Crossing at the state park, the Oak Creek Canyon (which is different from the village of Oak Creek).
The better restaurants here are Heartline Cafe, Dahl and Deluca, Shugrue's Hillside and Savannah.
