The rich ones among us are the ones that invested in what seemed impossibly far in the future just a few years ago. Even if the development doesn't get there, the impacts of growth will (and already have). Prescott is quickly losing it's character as a small town. Our other gem, Sedona, was ruined years ago in my opinion - I won't even go there anymore. It makes me sick to see what they have done there.

The same thing you say about Prescott and Sedona are the same things you are going to say about Silver City New Mexico in a few years huh? I dont even know why i'm writing on this thread because there are so many unfair comments. I go to Prescott all the time and i admit it grew it still is a great place to go and live. The world is not perfect, c'mon now. Growth is going to happen. What is so wrong with Sedona that it makes you sick? I dont know, maybe i'm right maybe i'm wrong but i just dont care for unfair negativity. I know everyone is allowed their opinions but when you know the 2 cities like i do (prescott and sedona) it's like someone making fun of your sister. I live in Cottonwood so i know all the main areas and secret areas that most of the people dont know about. In closing say what you want it's your perogative.

You could take a look at Sierra Vista, about 75 miles southeast of Tucson. Nice climate, growing city. It's a military town that's been discovered by retirees and refugees from the big cities. Nice parks, low crime, pretty area, affordable. It's worth a look. Here, I googled it and came up with this official website. http://www.ci.sierra-vista.az.us/Community%20Profile/facts.htm
I kind of like Prescott, but I was never there before it got "ruined" so I don't have a before and after opinion.

help for you
I read about what you like.
So tempreture wise and if you like late back,
here are the best places:
Flagstaff Flagstaff Flagstaff
Downfall: is getting more traffic. You will love the outdoors, the climate,
the poeple, it is very late back.
Other choices:
Payson, more boring, but gorgous area also.
Tuscon, maybe too hot, but great place!!!!
Bisbee
Artist Town
late back, better tempreture wise, not too hot.
Cottonwood
don't go there, it is hell.
Sedona
forgett about it. it is done.

Sedona
He is right about sedona. I have lived there for 12 years, and believe me, it is ruined.
It was very late back, when I moved there, and now it has way too much traffic. It is all made for tourists, the buildings, everything. Businesses have a hard time, and lots of great people have left, and realtors have sold out this once gorgous place. I have seen the change. Also the energy changed. A lot of people don't even go there no more, because it has gotten a negative, commercialized atmosphere.
Prescott to me has always been a city. I still believe, it is an ok place, there at least you have something to do and are close to outdoors.
I like prescott. But I have lived in Sedona, and have seen the change, and only visited Prescott. So I guess you live at a place, you see more how it is like.

I agree about Gallup, the "armpit" of NM. You don't want to consider it! I worked on the reservations in the area, and HAD TO go to the Walmart there for groceries. I got in and got out quickly, is filthy, dangerous and crime ridden especially on weekends when everyone is drunk. Sorry to be so negative, but it is what it is.

I agree with Silver City,NM being a great choice ....near perfect climate ...closest place in AZ climate wise would be Bisbee.....anywhere below 5,000' in AZ (or NM) gets hot in summer ....
