Maricopa possibility
I have lived in Arizona for the past 12 years.
Ok, if you don't mind hot, and you hate winters, that is a good
place for you. Sommers are VERY hot there, but winters are
mild,great, I believe, about 60, 70.
Workwise Phoenix has a lot to offer; Pool man; there is plenty of
work, since MANY people have pools; due to the lack of water
elsewhere. But Phoenix, Maricopa has gotten more and more pollution.
I like Casa Grande, Tuscon are better. You might be able to get
cheaper houses there as well.

Hoa
HOA seem reasonable.
I myself lived in a HOA in Cottonwood, and don't recommend it.
I had a condo.
But if you buy a trackhome with HOA, I don't think they are
too expensive and seem reasonable.
I never heard of any complaints.
But why not get for the same price another home without any
HOA with more freedom.....
There are thousands of trackhomes on the westside of phoenix, it
is ugly. But inside of course they look all modern, brand new and great.
So people like them.

My husband and I fled from Apple Valley 17 years ago. This is far, far better a place to live and work. Our daughter just purchased a new build home in Maricopa and we think it is a very nice neighborhood, very clean and quiet with new shopping right down the street. If you go to www.sheahomes.com you can see an example of the homes in the different areas down there. I know they are building more communities as are some of the other builders. One of the builders just sent me an ad for a 1,600 square foot home for $169,000, just cant remember the builder. There are some real deals down there right now. You will drive probably drive up to Phoenix for work, or over to Chandler. Some of the builders here that you can search the web for are:
Beazer, KB, Centex, Standard Pacific, Shea Homes, Trend, Pulte, Morison, and many more.

So you like it there I take it ... the wind much better lol and is it much warmer in the winter and at night .... I am working with a lady I don't know what homes she is working with but it's with a builder .. this is the link http://www.newhomes.com/
The lady is very nice .. the problem is all of the feedback here got me scared lol but i didn't think it could be worse than Apple Valley lol
I am thinking of a new build home ... with HOA is that ok ... I have had one a long time ago with a condo .. somethings in my older years lol like cleaning a pool lol ack so I would rather pay association ... but Maricopa seemed nice ... I could find out which builder she is working with ... is it better to get a new build and how long did it take your daughter to get in was it about 8 months did she have it built ..??thank you so much!!! I feel so much better....

I personally have always liked Casa Grande, it is an upcoming place like chandler and gilbert. It is between Phoenix and Tuscon. You might get a better deal there. there also are plenty of track homes. I personally like the Beazer homes. New home prices general came down in arizona. So right now is actually a great time to buy.
Regarding location, it depends what you are looking for.
I personally don't care for maricopa, it is just about trackhome after trackhome after trackhome. Depends what you are looking for. Phoenix got very busy and lots of air pollution. I personally care more for Tuscon. It has a more small town feeling, but is a city, all anemities, and a lot of great people, better than phoenix, and also less reckless drivers.
It depends what you want. i would go visit as many times you can and first start renting a house, instead of bying, or renting an apartment, put your stuff in storage, then move there and check out all the places....

I live in Maricopa. I moved here with my husband and kids in Oct of '06 from Scottsdale and before that from California. We had looked into Casa Grande and it was unanimous: Casa Grande was not for us. It looked ...well..more industrial than anything and the drive to Phoenix etc was waaay tooo long. Here in Maricopa...although smaller and with it's own problems (exampl. many ppl think the drive is too far, but it's just the fact that there isn't much in the way of scenary on the drive here from the 10), we have the casinos and lots of new buisnesses/eateries are popping up. It's growing fast and lots of the new families that are moving in are young professionals. Yup Maricopa is alright by me and i don't regret moving here one bit .

We think Maricopa will soon be a very attractive city. We like the bronze statues of the horses when you first enter. The new shopping centers are all done with consideration to architectural quality, not the usual tacky stip center approach of the past. My daughter and son in law really love their neighborhood and we find it very clean and quiet. She said that a new Home Depot is soon to be built, so that tells me it will grow soon.
