I just arrived in Yuma yesterday from the long drive from Galveston, TX. I now realize what 'hot' weather means.

I used to visit Galveston quite a bit when my sis lived there . Nice place. I would have found it hard to leave.

Welcome to Yuma! (drink lots o water)

JetSet: It was difficult to leave Galveston, yes. I lived there for 3 years and have always loved the place. My house was 2 blocks away from the beach and it got flooded when Hurricane Ike hit last September 2008. I just moved back in to my house in May after all the fixing in and had to leave on the 30th of June to relocate here in Yuma. But i am looking forward to making Yuma my home next.

I moved into an apartment yesterday and the AC wasn't working! gaaah!

Yikes ! I hope they get that fixed. Way to warm out there for no AC.... especially while unpacking.

the traffic police here are really working! three days ago i was driving along I-8 coming down the mountain to Yuma and did not notice my speed. i saw a bright flash and recognized too late a police car. i was on a rental car from Texas and i'm sure they got a good pic of me. i did not get to smile. (now i'm wondering how much will my car insurance go up this time...)

today i was driving the rental car back to the airport at 3PM and noticed another policeman with his radar gun pointed directly at me. gaaah! i was NOT speeding this time, though. Man, the police here are on their toes under the sun in a 116F weather!

I love the color brown, but hate the 120 weather. I'm currently in New Mexico escaping the heat, soon traveling in my RV to Colorado, just killing time till Sept, when I'll return to Yuma.

I think you should join me in leaving Yuma. It is too hard to find a job here. I am white but didn't grow up here. I think a lot of employers in Yuma are looking for billingual. I am looking elsewhere for employment and will likely move soon. I have already been out of town on interviews. I am sorry you are having a hard time finding a job. Keep your head up and move somewhere you enjoy. Life is too short to be miserable.

Default Yuma

I love Yuma. For all those who may move here, I don't know why there are so many negative comments. Here are some positives for you: The weather is awesome nine months out of the year. You can have your coffee on the patio in the mornings and go for walks at night with no coat on. The skies are always blue, no dreary overcast here. The people are friendly. There are good doctors here and the hospital has been good to me. Shopping is good, the mall is new with lots of shops to choose from. There are some excellent restaraunts here. Crime here is much much lower than California where everything is more expensive. We have many dance studios, sports, and some really nice parks too. There are many good churches to choose from. We have a new entertainment venue The Yuma Fun Factory, which has two neat minature golf courses, go carts video games and a full restaurant and bar. There a few nice regualar golf courses to choose from also. A new casino has come in and they have big time stars for entertainment. If you like off roading this is heaven, with a large sand dune recreational vehicle place. There are rivers for boating close by. It is only about a two and half hour to San Diego or Phoenix for weekend get a ways. There are some very pretty neighborhoods here which are very safe and nice to live in. New schools are being built. We are very close to Mexico if you want to go for the day, you can get many bargains there. I have lived here for three years and am happy I made the move. No worries about scorpions at all, if you have pest spray once a month. I only saw one outside since I have been here, and it was while my house was being built. We have a balloon fesitval and a big car show once a year. I have the best veteranarian too. I could write more, but I think this is enoughILOVEYUMA
