I know several people who have had it bad enough to be hospitalized. I also know of one person who died of it when it spread to his brain. But most of us who have been here for decades never got it bad enough to notice it.

According to the map linked in the OP, the population in about 20%+ of the USA is at risk. It's not just Arizona or southern Arizona ... nor Tucson. Might as well suggest that people not move to parts of S. California, Utah, or Nevada, or New Mexico, or Texas.

www.valleyfeversurvivor.com - The source for up to date Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis) information I have not read all the responses and I have to say this is a very serious thing. Nothing to joke around about. I lived in Tucson for 12 yrs. I got Valley Fever and got extremely ill. So sick I had to quit my job. I had disseminated VF. My ankles swelled up to 3x's their size, I couldn't walk w/o excruciating pain, I lost tons of weight, had pneumonia, (still have trouble breathing with exertion to this day...) I could go on. It frustrates me to see so many people saying it's not real or a joke. Yes some people who have gotten it have a slight case and little problems but many people have problems for life like me. And as someone said people have died from this.
The link I posted is a great resource to look at for real info on this. I could say more but I will stop for now.
