... I still haven't settled on a location to buy some property with plans of building a home in the next couple of years. The desert communities are definitely ruled out. The heat is just too unbearable. So far we've looked in Prescott and Kingman. Besides Sedona, which is next on our list of areas to visit, where would you seasoned travelers suggest we look? Here's a list of expectations.

No desert for reasons mentioned above
Reasonably close to medical facilities
Minimum one acre parcels

Thanks!

No desert that tends to rule out Kingman; and they have winter weather!

Medical facilities, then tends to rule out many small town areas.

Try Prescott Valley, Cottonwood, or anything in the Verdi Valley area, the temperatures are better, and you’d have an acre parcel, medical is available in Prescott with the hospital there. Also you’d want to look at Payson.

Thanks AksarbeN! Googled Payson and looks promising. Don't care for the idea of snow though. Any idea what the medical facilities are like?
