I love YUMA!!!!
really! I just moved here from Phoenix a month ago and I LOVE IT!
the only bad things are:
1) everything pretty much closes after 5pm and on sundays, but I can find other things to do or go to the mall
2) a lot more humid (from the Colorado Riv) than PHX, so the summers will be icky but my skin loves it!
3) snowbirds, but at least they go away in the summer!
I have heard so many bad things about this place I had my doubts, but after moving here, I think this was the best move for me! Even though I am young and single, it's still great. I have finally started to have opportunities to chat with the locals.
I don't know what all those haters on here were talkin about

I don't know either, except the prevailing thought has been that going through Yuma is like going through Death Valley... TWICE!
Not true.

well, it's not for everyone. I am a city girl and have lived all over the US, moved to Phoenix and hated it so bad I wanted out of the whole state! I lived there for 10 years, and then got this job down here and now I have a new appreciation for AZ and it's wonders!
Usually people that leave their home state and come here are shocked and hate it but that just means it won't get to overcrowded then! the heat isn't that bad after 5 years or so, and at 10 years it's nothing!
don't like it here? good! go away!
PS- I'm only 24yrs old btw, so it's not like I'm looking for "retirement" haha not even close!

lol hot? hottest summer ever? are you saying that because of global warming? i dont think so. al gore has been in hiding like that gopher during the current usa freeze. he will return when summer comes and start up his global warming theme again. haha. besides yuma is very nice. more people like it than ever before.

umm... hot summers? duhhhh! but after 10 years in PHX I think I can handle Yuma... it will only be slightly more humid and like a couple degrees different. *shrug* and it definetly will NOT be the "hottest summer ever"....
Jaada - you should move up north and complain about blizzards
I don't believe in Global Warming. It's a bunch of crap they lead us to believe so that we would be in a constant state of panic to spend more money and make us more environmentally aware. Did you know that in the 70s the scientists all thought that we were going to go through another ice age? yeah, that's right!
The Earth runs through continuous cycles, like every 25 years or so the warmer water from the southern Atlantic moves north and creates more hurricanes, which is occuring right now, it's not Global warming. and the emissions that we put out are actually soooo tiny compared to historic levels, that's why plants were HUGE in the dinosaur age! more CO2!
I do believe that after our lifetime, there will be an ice age coming, history has shown that we are due for the next one. The medival period was actually our warmest and we will be cooling off, guarenteed. You can't tell climate change from a few years worth of records, look at the big picture! The whole history of our planet! sure our Alaskan Glaciers are melting, but I have done a lot of research on this and there are glaciers around the world GROWING! but even most scientist will over look it b/c they want to jump on the "global warming band wagon"!
