ADOT identifies $1 billion in economic recovery projects
The Arizona Department of Transportation has identified more than $1.3 billion in potential transportation projects that could be funded by a federal economic recovery package.
My question about some of the costs
Spot repairs - $2,000,000 - Holbrook district....
What is pavement preservation? what is ADOT's definition of this?
Why are we giving 4,190,000 to the navajo nation for a repair facility? The boon dock roads are ok, and the inner town roads are brand new!
and then.......
millions upon millions to the aiport?
ADOT claim " would employ 35,000 Arizonans," really? Adot wouldn't outsource the work to the many construction companies in the valley or one, in turn hiring illegal immigrants?
Here is the PDF http://www.dot.state.az.us/index_doc...l_Projects.pdf
Why not invested it into proper mass transit for AZ. I don't see automated highways coming out for 100 years, so why not come up with something else other then paving everything?
I just have so many questions on my mind. I am not frustrated, angry, or bitter about anything, just curious.

You obviously have not been on I 40 near Holbrook in a while. It is full of axle and tire busting potholes.
Please, please don't waste anymore money on mass transit. We need good roads not more light rail fiascos.
Finally, the companies the build our major road and freeway projects don't hire many illegals. They pay good money and have the cream of the construction workforce.

There is $2,000,000 worth of pot holes? Wouldn't that be an entire re-pavement?

I think that is what it needs. They have been patching and resurfacing for years only to have it crack and shift. The truck traffic there is brutal. Miles of the pavement need to be torn up and redone. 2 mil is not much when it comes to road projects, though, so it may be just potholes and patches.

Nope - re-paving would far exceed 2 mil

So-called "mass transit" is totally inappropriate for the area

I work for the highway dept here in Missouri and the cost far exceeds 2m. The I-40 here at a 10 mile stretch is costing the state close to 60m. The cost of redoing the pot holes does sound about right. That is do to the cost of asphalt and the making of it.
