Default Gun Laws

Can any one tell me if it is against the law to shoot a gun near someone elses house? I have a neighbor who is shooting every weekend with his buddies about 500 feet from my house makes me very very nervious. We do not live in the city so not city laws apply. I can only find that you cannot hunt with in a 1/4 mile of a house. However, nothing that says you cannot do target practice.

Any help would be great.

Ken

Not just hunting. Firing a gun within 1/4 mile of a residence is illegal, period. Call the sheriff.

How about asking your neighbor to stop first? If you think you can do it safely, of course. I wouldn't ask when they are shooting! eek!

Yeah, but you don't have any neighbors within 1/4 mile. Right?

I've never measured.

No one complains where I live anyway

There is a residence about 200' from the pistol range at Adair Park in Yuma.

Actually, there's a residence at the range in Kingman as well. However, it belongs to the caretaker. And there's no other residence withing 1/4 mile of the range. Is that the same as your range? Maybe there's a provision for the caretaker's residence.

Anyway, the 1/4 mile law is what's taught at the AZ CCW class. You know better?

pretty sure it's a mile from residences inside city limits, but since you live in an unincorporated place, the 1/4 mile from a structure language comes into play. I believe that you're not allowed to shoot closer than that, unless you have the homeowner's permission. This would be why the caretaker residence exists next to the range, but wouldn't excuse your neighbor's actions.

I'd go and talk with him before I called the law. You'll still have to live next to him...
