Oh yeah, the hospital we call 'Hope-ya-make-it'. They had to airlift my daughter to a Phx hosp from there when she was 7 mos pregnant because there was a serious issue with the unborn baby's heart that this one wasnt geared to take care of. Thank gawd everything turned out alright and she chose to go back to Phx when it came time for the baby to be born, we werent going to take that chance here.
Funny thing was, we passed up a Highway Patrol at 2:30 in the morning, doing close to 90 on the freeway while she was in labor, and he didnt bother to pull us over for speeding. In a small way, we were hoping he would so chances of her getting there before that baby was born would be better, but we made it, and by 7AM, it was showtime!! A beautiful, healthy baby boy.

I've driven by Casa Grande in the past on the way to Tucson and I remember it as a small farming town. I drove by there in May of 2004 on the way to Tucson, and again I didn't see too much change. But in January of 2007, when I went down there to visit my wonderful friend, who lives there, I thought Good Lord, what the heck happened? Many new subdivisions have gone up all over ther place.
I agree with LA Woman, and when you see a Home Depot and a Lowes store, you know Casa Grande is no longer the small farming town it once was.

Casa Grande Is Nice Don't Come Here If You Think Its A Slum
I Moved Here Two Years Ago It Did Look Kinda Weird But I Liked How Country It Was Now The Developers Have Made It Into A Bedroom Community Of Phoenix It Has Almost Doubled In Population In 2.5 Years, I May Have To Move To The Country Again If It Keeps Growing.
What I Don't Understand Is Why It Is Not The County Seat Its Close To Freeways And Highways Florence Is Off A Skinny Little 2 Laner Way Out Nowhere And Its Difficult To Get To, When Im Called For Juryduty I Live In Fear Of Driving That Little Congested Highway Of 2 Lanes And Speeders.
What Is Wrong With This Picture?

Because you joined recently. I think once you've been here for a month or two, you'll become a "Senior Member". Also, once you've accumulated enough "Reputation Points" (I think 100) from other members, you'll be able to do more things.

3 new elemtary schools and a middle school opened last week in Casa Grande. All are at capacity already. That represents a lot of people here now that came from other places. If Casa Grande is bottom of the barrel, we had to make a considerable jump in the right direction.

Casa Grande
Well we moved from Tucson to Villago in Casa Grande.
What a mistake!
Yes the new mall is coming in and growth is on the rise.
But there are tons of indigent people and the weather is just horrible.
Winds and little rain.
Not alot to do there.
We have now moved back to Tucson and are looking to rent our house in Villago.
When you consider buying a house for cost you must consider the extra wear and tear on your car for the extra miles of travel into work, gasoline, and oh yes the extemely high utility rates.
If you come from a nice middle class city or better do not consider Casa Grande and Maricopa is even worse.

Just some facts. The new mall is about 50% open (Dec 07). I would guess the rest of the stores will open in the Feb-Mar timeframe. Very nice, but number of shoppers is much lower than expected, especially now that many of snowbirds are here.
But the stores along Florence Ave., which are not great anyway, will likely suffer and may have more shuttered by next summer.
BeDillions is a good family place to eat, but a bit inconsistant. The new Mimi's in the new mall has been busy. Outback has backed out of opening. But In and Out Burger is coming!!
Overall, Casa Grande area is growing, but slowly now housing is stressed. Some good bargins exist if you can get financing and make the down payment. The upscale retirement development, Robson Ranch, has some very good resales as not many living in the area can afford the upper price level (and it is 55+ housing). So most are coming in from other areas.
