Please help with Relo Info on Goodyear Vs Avondale
My wife has an opportunity to transfer to the Proctor and Gamble plant in phoenix at south 35th and Lower Buckeye-does anyone know anything about Del Rio Ranch in Avondale or Canyon Trails in Goodyear looking for commute times and how bad is the I-10 Construction, My parents use to live in Glendale, so we are somewhat familliar with the areas, will be looking to buy a house, also looked at Buckeye but its just too far away and even with the Cheep homes once gas goes back up it will be a bad investment. Laveen is also open if anyone know anything about it
Thanks to anyone who knows anything about these areas

I go past there on the way to work. It's consistently less than 35 minutes from Estrella (south part of Goodyear) on the back roads. It would be maybe about 25-30 from Canyon Trails if you can find a route that does not use the freeway. The freeway is under construction and is a mess. I don't know about Del Rio Ranch in Avondale but the name makes it sound like it is one of the developments south of the freeway by the Salt River. No, no, no. Stay north of the freeway and west of the Agua Fria River in Avondal - around N Dysart Rd. Canyon Trails is a nice development. That would be my choice hands down.
It's a 30 minute or so drive from the more northern and eastern reaches of Ahwatukee as well as Tempe too if you want to look at that side of town.

canyon trails is nice and that would be my bet all things considered - avondale would get you a little closer and that
del rio ranch isn't bad and although south of I-10, it's isolated from the bad areas of avondale S. of the I-10
I-10 construction is rough right now - but is on schedule to be done by the fall, in which case it will open up things pretty nicely
however, if in canyon trails I wouldn't touch the 10 for that commute ........ i would run MC-85 until you can cross into lower buckeye, no need to drive north, sit in rush hour traffice, just to go south again

Laveen would definetly be a good choice, although I live there so I would be considered more of a homer than most people. The trick is to stay away from the older Phoenix area that borders with Laveen, it is not as bad as many people would say that it is. Depending upon you price range, you can get some REALLY nice homes south of Baseline that are close to the mountains. 43rd and Dobbins is good with very large homes on 15000 square foot lots minimum.

Re Avondale Vs Goodyear
Thanks so much for the info that has been posted, thanks so much for the Laveen Info, seems that few people like that area, but were thinking its only 7 miles to wife work location, and were not biased against spanish people, my old and closest friend is hispanic in LA and its just not an issue, am weary of gangs, no small children all grown, and seems lots of new homes in that area, thanks again

Definetly would be the most conveniant. There are a lot of empty nesters that live in Laveen. You may even look at the South Mountain Foothills area off of 24th St and Baseline in the Legacy Golf resort. Really nice around there.
