I get skunked now and then, but even a bad day on the water is better than the best day in the city.

It is a (too) popular boating lake, but there are few boats during the week even in the best months. All of our lakes are overcrowded on weekends. I quit going out Fri-Sun many years ago.
I have fished on Pleasant many times, and compared to other lakes, it's a waste of time.

OK. That's your opinion. It takes more skill to do well there than you apparently possess.

Not really, it's more general angler knowledge. I have never met a person who actually enjoys fishing at pleasant.

Fishing does not require any real skill.

That should suffice to show the OP what your opinion on the topic is worth.

No, not really. Once you learn how to cast properly, it's self explanatory.

He asked for good fishing lakes, and I advised him against the poor fishing lakes, such as pleasant.

Spring time on Pleasant is one of the best large mouth lakes in the southwest. If you know what you are doing.

And I do enjoy fishing Pleasant. "Trolling" won't work for large mouth on any lake. Maybe that's why you have not had any luck at Pleasant.

I have had plenty of luck at pleasant, and you're right about spring time, but most of the year, the lake is not worth the trip.

I have caught some huge largemouth and crappie at bartlett. I used to fish almost every weekend, and pleasant and bartlett were my two main lakes I would drive to being in the north part of phoenix, and I always found barlett to prevail in all aspects of angling.

Absolutely! Some great lakes

Way up north - there is Lake Powell

Closer to the Valley, there is Lake Pleasant, Bartlett, Horseshoe, Saguaro, Canyon, Roosevelt. Then there San Carlos (on the reservation)

They are different sizes but, all are good recreational and fishing lakes except San Carlos which is a good fishing lake.

The varieties of fish varies but, there are Bass, Trout, Catfish, Croppies and so on.
