My instructor was an AZDPS officer (Sgt). He made no mention of the carrying open as being a problem.

In fact, we have done several rides with him and he carries in the open.

Well I carry concealed and have for for over 30 years. Open carry, unless your hunting is dangerous. Why you might ask, well I have seen people open carry and they have lots of police contact. Not that they have done anything wrong, but because everyone calls in on them. I can remember one guy who walked into a bank, open carry. I still can see him on the floor, as the police moved in. To me its not worth getting shot because you have scared someone, and they did not know how to handle the situation. My advise, if you open carry use your head and don't let yourself get setup where someone feels threatened.

I have both an AZ and a UT permit, and carry every day. The only time my sidearm is NOT within arms length is when I'm at work, and ONLY because that's a condition of employment.

A couple of questions from a person in a low crime area moving to a med to high crime area.

In AZ how hard is it to get your concealed permit

Is carrying a pistol under your car seat considered concealed carry.

If you're out in the desert in spring summer or fall, where do you conceal the dam thing. Jam it down your shorts?

Are there many illegals/trafficers roaming the desert in N. AZ, We have a winter shack in Deming and they walk right up to your door asking for food and water.

He will shoot you preemptively. Here's another scenario. A tweaker is driving a stolen car on a rural road when he sees you on your motorcycle packing heat. He bumps you off the road to steal the gun off your corpse. Or you're walking down the road with your open weapon holstered, and somebody comes up behind you and smacks you across the head with a 2x4 to steal your gun. Or maybe they just shoot you with theirs so they can add your gun to their collection. Are you telling me you've never heard of a perp taking a cop's gun away? What makes you think that can't happen to you? I can think of scenarios like this all day long that wouldn't happen if you carried concealed. The only time a perp is going to see my gun is for a fraction of a second before I shoot him.
What a fantasy! Except in the situation of a police officer scuffling with an arrestee I have never heard a single instance of any of those happening.

I expect to move to a carry state as soon as the housing market improves enough for me to sell my California house. I intend to get my carry permit as soon as possible in my new home state. However I prefer to carry concealed in most situations, and believe it's an individual decision. I don't have any problem with people who openly carry as long as they're doing it legally.

Every state is a carry state according to the second amendment. Any stste that makes laws enfringing on the right to keep and bear arms is in violation of the Constitution.

All, not sure if this has been discussed in the past or not. I do know that Congress is currently considering a national concealed carry, for all 50 states. This would eliminate States that do not allow concealed weapon's.

On the other side of the coin, they could try and attach amendments like (all permit holders must have a million dollar liability insurance). I am making this up, but still we need to watch this bill to see if it is another way to take our rights away.

Just food for thought.
