Hi

I am uk resident and am wishing to visit Arizona next year , have tried tourism sights , but thought locals would know best . If anyone can supply any good info , wish to stay near grand canyon , monument valley , painted desert , thought about Flagstaff , but don't want anywhere too busy or noisy . And if any can suggest maybe central point to stay and any places to avoid , be most grateful . thanks phg

I don't think you would find Flagstaff too busy or noisy. Beautiful Ponderosa pine forests around there. It's a good stepping off point to explore some of those other areas of northern Arizona you mention. You should also definitely see Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon as well, south of Flagstaff.

Monument Valley and Painted Desert are fairly remote areas, I'm not sure what lodging would be best nearby. Others who are more familiar with that area will be happy to chime in and tell you!

You might consider Page. It's pretty centrally located to the sights you mention.
