I would rent for a time before making a final decision. We love AZ but the summers are intense at first until you get used to them and I am not sure you really get used to them. There are so many nice areas to choose from you will have to come and take some time to poke around.

So what's Lake Havasu like?
Also in response to what other people are saying I know some people that live / have lived in Tuscon so I guess I can ask them.
From what I'm seeing though is that if I'm a "transplant" I won't be very welcomed.

Also for a place that is a safe to raise a (future) family in and has average priced homes($300k and below is my budget). I really don't mind 100+ degree weather at all. Any advice? Thank you

Look at Safford....not real big. but real nice.

When I move I will be coming from Jackson. I soooo wish it were already 5 years from now so I could make the move. Or better yet, I wish I could win the lottery and I would be there in less than a heart beat. I am going to have to check out Verde Valley. I think I have talked to you once before Debbie.

I wouldn't say that at all, but there is no substitute for coming here and looking around. Opinions on an Internet forum are not nearly as reliable as your own eyes and ears. You can do some long-distance research with employers to get you started (hospitals, anyway, and job advertisements), but when it comes to making choices about where to live and work in a very varied state, it would certainly be best to do some looking on your own.

I think the advice to get information from more recent transplants is right, when it comes to the kinds of issues that come up in adjusting after a long distance move. But, opinions/advice from long term residents you talk to when you visit will add some additional perspective. So, talk to everybody, and good luck!
