I didn't get that impression from this thread.
You're giving us very general information that we could recommend almost anywhere for you to live. This is a large state, with many, many different areas.
For the THE best healthcare job availability, your best bet would be to live in the largest city, Phoenix. With over 4 million in the metro area, you are sure to find a job. However, I do know that our hospitals have cut back a lot. If you are a nurse, you should be fine. What do you do? We have MANY suburbs to live in, but most will be fairly large as they are all small cities.
If you are looking for something smaller, than keep reading the boards and see what comes up. I don't have any comments on other places to live in AZ other than Phx.
As for being a transplant, I'm not sure how much you wouldn't be welcomed here. I'm a Phx native and do have many issues with transplants for various reasons, but that doesn't mean I'm nasty to them. However, there are so many transplants here, who isn't one? Probably about half of the people I'm friends with are transplants. This city THRIVES due to the transplants.
AZ isn't for everyone, however we do have the diversity of areas to live. If you want a 4 season type area, then don't move to Phx or Tucson. We only have two seasons for the most part.
You mentioned not minding 100+ weather. Just curious, where did you live that you had that kind of temps? And, was it more than a day or two? We have it for 3-4 months straight with no mercy.

I did a lot or internet reserch for a couple years, checking out housing prices employment, areas etc. I had not even been here but knew the kind of weather I wanted, the Verde Valley fit what I was looking for. I visited for the first time Aug 07, suggestion of my very smart son-in-law to check it out during the hottest months. I came back twice in 08 before I made the move, all three times my realtor took me around to houses in Cornville, Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Rimrock, Lake Montezuma and Clarkdale. My first rental was in Camp Verde, that was a lil to far so I found one in Cornville I really like this area now that I have been here a couple months. My point is until you move here it is hard to say where you may want to end up but visiting sure gives you a good idea where you don't want to be.

P.S. Thelma has been reunited with her companion, I had been told that Louise had been killed but not true she was rescued and taken to a couple in Bridgeport who takes in unwanted barn animals. She is now living with Louise several goats, a sheep, chickens, a goose and duck. Best of all I can visit whenever I want.

P.S
I'm also concidering Prescott or PV depends where I find a job, that is also a really nice area. That is one good thing about renting first on a month to month, I had planned on buying right away but glad I listened to my daughter.

1. What more information should I give? As I said I'm not picky.
2. I actually wouldn't mind living in a larger city such as Phoenix if I could find a job there.
3. I'm just curious to know what your issues with newcomers are. Trust me I won't get angry with whatever they are... I'd just like to know a few at least.
4. Well I lived in Nevada from June to December of 2004... and I positively loved the weather there (which I assume would be similar?)
Lastly the reason I said I was starting to think moving to Arizona seemed like a bad idea is because it seems like I will be outcasted for being a newcomer. Also it seems like everyone thinks I only want to move there for the weather which isn't true. I've lived in quite a few places and was just thinking of making Arizona my next move.

In response to the other question I lived in the Detriot area for the majority of my life. I currently reside in Mount Pleasant, MI. I have also lived in Chicago, Toledo, Erie, Green Bay, Summerville, and the Sandusky area.

I moved to Arizona about hmmm...4 years ago. I heard those same comments quite often before moving out here about 'the weather'. I knew what the weather was going to be like, i think most do that research this area before moving here. I love it~its great~year round. Like you said, you lived in Nevada so it is much of the same...
Putting that aside...

Ooops...didnt mean to cut that last message short.
I guess each persons experience is different~as far as issues when first moving anywhere. What i am finding now, is i am tiring of all the walls we have here. Its great because the houses are so close to one another~and you need that for privacy but being here now for over a few years...i am tiring of it. I guess i would say that has 'become' an issue for ME. Others still dont mind it so i hate to say anything negative~or disclose any of my issues if you would like to ask me more specifics...please do so.
It is VERY easy to find your way around...at least here in the valley. Its a big grid...highways are very easy~that is so nice!
Everyone is from somewhere else, so you find you have a lot in common that way with MANY people. People are the same as they are anywhere else...many very nice and a few you could do without...no different than anywhere else.
It is what you make of it~if you feel its 'right' then do it
