Default NAU/Flagstaff...Anything I should know?

Just got an acceptance letter from NAU and I'll hopefully be starting grad school in August. My brother is an undergrad up there right now and I'm somewhat familiar with the city of Flagstaff, but have been looking around on the internet for guides/tips on grad school life at NAU with little to no luck. Has anyone completed a grad program up there? What's the environment like (professors/student body/campus)? I'll most likely be living on campus and need to find a part time job.

Any help/guidance is greatly appreciated

Default NAU? anybody?

Hey,

I saw that no one replied to your post which is unfortunate because I'm thinking about attending grad school at NAU in about a 1.5 yrs and would also like to know what its like.

I got my Bachelors there many years ago. Not sure I can help you out much but here goes.

Flagstaff is cold, cold, cold.

Considering the fact that you are going for your grad studies I would recomend living off campus. I say that because when I was in school my studies took a back seat to Beer, Girls and Partying. Although these things are a lot of fun, I can only imagine the distraction they would create for a grad student. NAU has a high percentage of students that live on campass campared to other universities. That leaves you mixed in with a lot of students that have yet to be weeded out. If you do stay on campus, try to get into an apartment style dorm.

I also reccomend taking Summer classes. NAU and Flagstaff have a much different "feel" compared to the normal semester crowd.

Did I mention that Flagstaff is cold.

Anyway, good luck to you. I don't regret my time there at all. It was the best time of my life.

Keep your nose in the books and out of the wrong places. That's the best advice I can give anyone attending college.

Good luck!
