Default Good place to relocate for single mom

I currently live in Denver, as I have most of my life. I'm young (24) & recently divorced with 2 children. I'm wanting a 'fresh start' in life for myself & my kids, and I'd really love for that to happen in AZ. I've visited Flagstaff a couple times a child, but don't remember enough about the trips to help make a decision. I'd prefer to live around Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and even further down to Chandler, but I'm not sure which city suites a person in my situation. I've found a few job opportunites for the field I'm in, so that's not a concern for me at the moment, and doing my research, home prices are insanely cheaper in the Phoenix area than they are here in Denver. The quality of the schools & the proximity to shopping and all that is the most important, but safety & cost of living is important too. Anyone have any suggestions as to what city may work the best for a young, single mom who knows no one in the state?

BTW - I am taking a 3 day trip to Phoenix the first weekend of May to get a feel for the area before I make any big plans.

Coming here first to visit is a great idea. When you say "around Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, and even Chandler", that's a HUGE area. I think you would find many areas you like, and would be happy in, in all those places. Where you work will make some difference in making that choice, to make the commute as easy as possible.

Come take a look, with your work location in mind, and see what fits best.
