Default Moving to Yuma??

Ok I have read alot of the posts about Yuma, and a lot of them are very negative. Ii have looked at the population stats and other things. This may sound like a really stupid question, but do you have an African american population in Yuma? Id like to hear their take on the city as well.

Moderator cut: orphaned quote I am white and have friends who are African-American. When I was teaching in the school system here, I had a wonderful parent volunteer who was African-American. I have had to deal with some of my hispanic students making racist comments toward my African American students. Most of my hispanic students were more than happy to be friends with the black students.

I wasn't talking about the kids because the kids still are impressionable and have a lot to learn. I'm talking about the adults who are supposed to know right from wrong, but act a million times more childish than the kids do.

The adults (in theory anyway) are SUPPOSED to act decent and set the example for their kids to follow, but all I see every minute of everyday is snickers, sneers, stares and other hateful gestures that is only initiated by the color of ones skin.

Here it is 2009 and we're still talking about race. I have so many friends because I don't care if they're white, black or whatever. I met one of my best friends several years ago while driving through his neighborhood. I saw a guy polishing his new boat with his family. I pulled over to talk to him because I didn't see a black guy working in his driveway. I saw someone who shares a common love spending quality time with family. I now have a dear friend for life.

That's exactly my point. It's 2009, 400 years later, and still the same hatred exists. My question is, when will it stop? Everybody is not like you. As a matter of fact, being that you know how to act, why don't you do your part and let everyone else know that the color of one's skin is irrelevant to one's character. That way, we can ALL live comfortably, as you do.

In addition, why don't you ask the black man that you met if racism still exists, and see what he says.
