Default Need advice on a good wrongful termination lawyer.

I am really needing to seek legal advice on a wrongful termination of employment. I am looking for an employment lawyer here in Yuma but would be willing to drive to Phoenix if necessary. I am needing this because I was told today that my contract isn't going to be renewed because they don't like the way I am teaching. I know that the Arizona statutes say that a teacher has to be given a notice of Inadequate Performance and placed on an improvement plan. I was never given either one. As a matter of fact the only thing I heard from my principal was your doing a good job. For this current year, I have never received a copy of my evaluation. All my evaluations have been satisfactory that I have seen. To all you teachers out there who are thinking about teaching here, STAY WHERE YOU ARE!!!!!

No offense, but perhaps your employer is unhappy with you, because as a teacher you aren't aware of the difference between your and you're.

You've posted how you dislike it there and you would like to go back to wherever it was you came from. Maybe this is blessing in disguise then.

You weren't tenured. It's a work at will Sate. I would still talk to the Superintendent about it.

It's all about the money. Who can I sue, what can I get. Oh hell, the whole world stinks. All of it except me.

I am sorry but I made a typo. I was really upset when I wrote this. I need a job though. I have to have health insurance and a salary. I have asthma medication that I need to purchase which will cost around 800 to 1000 dollars per month without insurance. Even if you are not tenured in Arizona they still have to issue a Notice of Inadequate Performance. A superintendent at another district told me that. I just want the nonrenewal off my record so that I can find another job. I was never treated like this until I was diagnosed with asthma this year.

Call the American Federation of Teachers office in Phoenix. They should be able to give you some advice, and give you some lawyer referrals if you need one.

I would think this is just a result of the state's budget crisis. Contract/Sub teachers will be the first to go, unfortunately.

Districts are NOT REQUIRED to renew contracts. Notices of non renewals have to be done by the middle of April.

1000's of Teachers across the state are getting notices of non renewals this week.

Sorry to tell you but, IMLO, you have no case. Yes, I'm a Lawyer. Yes, I know employment law.

That's very likely so (I represented school districts 25 years ago) but having the workings of the applicable laws explained to him/her first hand by a live person can't ever be a bad thing.
