Default Somerton School District

Hello,

Can anyone tell me about Somerton School District? I've noticed there are openings for elementary school teachers. I definitely want a classroom of my own, but don't know much about Yuma. Haven't ever been there either.

Other questions, would include things such as what is it like to live in Yuma? I currently live in PHoenix. Do I have to travel an hour if I want to go to Barnes and Nobles? Is there a Starbucks in the area?

Any general information you can give me would be helpful.

I don't know what to ask, but would love to know!

Thanks!

I was born and raised in Yuma..so it is home to me and I love it there. A lot of people hate it (including my husband) because it is so hot. Hotter than Phoenix hot. They have most of the bigger dept. stores like Dillard's, Penney's, Sears, Kohl's, and some of the specialty stores like American Eagle etc. There are several Starbucks in town, and yes, Barnes & Noble but no Borders. They have Olive Garden, Red Lobster, all the chain restaurants and an In-n-Out burger also. Yuma is about 2.5 hrs from Phoenix and San Diego (in opposite directions, of course). Somerton, is about 20 mins from town. It is very small, and largely Hispanic. I would say about 95%? So I hope you are bilingual if you plan on teaching there. I hope you do. Good Luck..hope this helps.
