Small towns outside of Mesa
I was wondering what the names of some small towns are outside of Mesa are?
I am looking no more then a 20 minute commute for sure in radius of Mesa.
Can you grow citrus in your area?
What kind if so?

Arizona really doesn't have a lot of "small towns" as you think of it in the classic sense, with the exception of up north. The area of around Phoenix is really just continuous sprawl and suburbs. It all blends together and really is not a small town feel.

Superior, AZ is 30 miles away. A small, run down old mining town. Apache Junction borders Mesa and Gold Canyon borders AJ. Like irwin said though, it is somewhat of a continuous suburb. AJ and Gold Canyon are very different than Mesa in some respects. AJ is still a small town in comparison. Gold Canyon is more of a Sedona-like wanna be. It's an unincorporated town with no gov't of it's own. Mostly high dollar homes. The LPGA Safeway International is played there in March at the Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club.
Citrus? Hell yea. Oranges and Grapefruit for sure.

What are you looking for in a place to live besides a small town? What is important to have nearby and what do you want to keep as far away as possible? When is your commute? if it is off peak hours, 20 minutes will get you a long way in the Valley. Otherwise your options will be quite limited.

And Superior's winters are mild enough for both bougainvillea as well as citrus----------I have seen both types of vegetation grow there outside.
Too: Superior is about 5-10 degrees cooler in the summer (similar winter lows) than the Phx area and the avg. rainfall totals are ca. 18" a year.

Citrus is one of the 5 C's of AZ, perfect soil, climate, and sun. Winter months is when Citrus explodes. Also Queen Creek is growing about 20-30 min outside of Mesa, however traffic can be bad. What would expect of Phoenix metro Area? 4th largest city in the US.
