Got another one tonight, 2nd I've killed so far this year. Inside the house. I wonder how many I don't see Smacked him with my daughter's flip flop many times, he squished. Left a stain. Guess I smacked too hard. Then I walked outside barefoot about 40 feet to the pool in the dark through the dark desert ground, never worried about stepping on a scorpion. Guess I've lived here to long

I wouldnt worry about stepping on a scorpion, Id be definitely more worried about steppin on the other things that go bump in the night (ie rattlesnakes). Be smart. Wear shoes.

Last evening, was going out the arcadia door to the patio - I did not realize that there was a baby tarantula in between that and the screen door - and when they slid past each other (the door and the screen) - it got killed. No squishy mess but I sure am pretty bothered that it got killed, wanted it on our property for the scorps and bugs. Hopefully the mother is on the property with a couple more.

Did anybody see the bit about scorpions on the news the other night? I thought the ancient canal theory was interesting since I've been told by a lot of people that scorpions tend to live in corridors.

Seems like some legit information, and all I can say is, ITS ABOUT TIME! LOL Most printed stuff I see on scorpions is laughable at best, makes me wonder how some of the printed articles even get circulated into publication! The stuff I read in those short articles was correct and to-the-point (no pun intended).

I am thinking I don't want to move to AZ any more.. It sounds like a really sucky place to live. Hasn't anyone got anything good to say about it?

Terrie,
I moved to Yuma,AZ almost 3 years ago and love it here.
I moved from the beautiful and expensive coastal city called San Diego,CA.
While San Diego is very nice, its also very, very expensive.
Crime is pretty bad and its overpopulated.
While in AZ,Ive been to Phoenix.and let me tell you,Phoenix is nice, but like San Diego, traffic is very bad.And I assume crime is too.
Tucson is nice,I really liked it there. Its laid back enough and it doesnt get as hot as Yuma or Phoenix.
Prescott is beautiful, but I hear expensive and so is Flaggstaff.
Lake Havasu city is very nice, but also too small and isolated.
Parker is kinda small and far from everything. So is Kingman.

I chose Yuma, because its close to San Diego and Phoenix and also close to mexico and its wonderful beaches
Its big enought to have 2 movie theaters but small enough to not have rush hour traffic.
My own mother moved here from San Diego last year and loves it here, and my older brother has decided to call it quits in CA and move here next month.

Scorpions>Ive seen two.I captured both and put them in a different place, but none around my house.
Have seen a few solifuges and black widows, but no rattlers or tarantulas.

Ive rather see them, then seeing low lives and thugs in the streets of San Diego.

Oh my God, where to start? I love just about everything about it. It's very different where I come from- I miss the Chicago food and museums mostly-- but AZ is just beautiful. I love the variety in wildlife and scenery. Two days ago I was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt looking at ponderosas and aspens and yes, even a touch of snow (not close enough to touch it, but waaaayy up at the top of Humphreys Peak); shortly afterwards I was in Oak Creek Canyon and later that same day, back in the desert. I love that. Obviously it's not the sort of thing we can do on a weekly basis, but it's nice to get away without having to go too far.

We've been lucky in the creepy crawly dept. When we first moved in, it was a battle with the crickets, but that did not last long. Now we have a yard full of lizards and hummingbirds and that is just fine with me
