Living around ALL old people isnt that bad. And Havasu is filled with old people all year. I would guess 90% are old, including me.
Dont bother visiting the Havasu area you will hate it. Its expensive too and way to hot.It has nothing to offer, and the PD will give you a ticket just for being out of state, with speed traps everywhere. I think the Phoenix area would be best for you.

The city of Surprise is nice and has tons of choices as far as housing goes. Who knows what the market will be like in two years however.
If you don't mind young/old people, then check out the Trilogy/Vistancia in north Peoria. They sell to 55+ as well as 45 year olds so you don't have the plastic bikes and things going on. Across the road is the family side with the kids and things going on. We happen to live in the family side but qualify for the age targeted and like living here very much. The ammenities are awesome. What price would you want to be paying for a home? That will determine where you start looking. Good luck
