I moved here to Arizona from the state of Kansas about 6 years ago with my parents. We left Kansas because its winters were way too cold and it was a hassle to drive in the snow. Also, we lived in a very small town about 75 miles from Wichita that lacked diversity and as a family of the philippine ethnicity we encountered obstacles of prejudice. I am very passionate about Geography and love to learn about other exciting cities, so as a result of that I have created a list of 80 cities that are within my interest of relocation.

Santa Cruz,CA Watsonville,CA Sacramento,CA Oceanside,CA Fresno,CA
San Diego,CA El Centro,CA Stockton,CA Reno,NV Portland,OR Salem,OR
Eugene,OR Spokane,WA Bellingham,WA Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia,WA
Yakima,WA Anchorage,AK Flagstaff,AZ Lake Havasu City,AZ Yuma,AZ
Casa Grande,AZ Albuquerque,NM Las Cruces,NM Boise,ID Salt Lake City,UT
Ogden,UT Provo,UT Fort Collins,CO Colorado Springs,CO Denver,CO
Lincoln,NE Omaha,NE Topeka,KS Wichita,KS Leavenworth,KS Lawrence,KS
Des Moines,IA Junction City,KS Springfield,MO Oklahoma City,OK Tulsa,OK
Lawton,OK Columbia,MO Austin,TX San Antonio,TX Corpus Christi,TX.............and about five other cities in Texas to Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and even Nashville,TN. I also included Annapolis,MD Wilmington,DE AND last but not least Providence,RI. From all of my choices Reno, Anchorage, Boise, Colorado Springs, Wichita, Austin, Corpus Christi, Tulsa, Nashville, Virginia Beach, Savannah, Fort Walton Beach in Florida, and Providence, RI sound the best to me right now. :-) To give you all a little perspective I am a young 23 year old college student (unemployed) searching for better quality of life.

At 23, the quality of your FUTURE life depends on developing your career. I would go wherever you can do that best, and later in life you can cherry-pick where you want to be. You can be in the best place ever, and if you don't have a decent income/benefits etc, what good is it?

Yes DaveV I understand this completely, but what if my "FUTURE life" depends on a career developing in Statistical & Demographic Research? I believe I owe it to myself to learn from other peoples experiences Geographically and take all the information with a grain of salt to result in a reasonable conclusion. I am only using this website as a vehicle to quench my thirst for knowledge of other areas that I am not familiar. Excuse my "tone" if you were not trying to educate me because of my age and lack of wisdom through experiences but I did find your message slighty offensive for the mere fact that I believe there are many places throughout this country that I may be unhappy just for the lack of diversity for 1 example. I say this only because I have already experienced discrimination and prejudice only because of my appearance and skin tone, so I am 99.9% sure that even with an extremely successful career I would be tempted to relocate. I am positive right now that I could articulately elaborate to make myself a bit clearer but I do hope that I have explained enough for you to see this in my point of view. I do appreciate your concern for my well being and future career but I really did not submit my thoughts for replies on morality, success, and path of values. Once again, thank you for your concern and may the Lord richly bless you.

I hate TO leave Arizona, but we are retiring back to where the kids are...we're heading off to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Beautiful place, I must admit, I did fall in love with it quite quickly! I will, however, miss my mountains quite a bit. We just bought a place a few weeks ago and will be moving in the Spring. I will visit Tucson/Arizona as often as I can though, I'll never forget this beautiful desert!!

Well Flipinino, if you found my post offensive you are being too sensitive. If "diversity" is the issue, you are off-base with your city "selection", you listed most of the conservative areas of the country as places you want to be, and barely scratched the places where you would experience the most diversity. If you are good at what you do and a good honest person of character, that is ALL that matters and most intelligent people respect that I believe. Once again, it is all about developing a career and your own character, ignore those who might judge you by other than WHO you are(race, etc) - Am I lecturing you? YES - I am twice your age, and have a lot of life experience. You would be wise to digest advice from those who have gone before you, instead of getting "offended", no one here is trying to offend you. I work with people of just about EVERY race and creed here in Boston and guess what: no one cares or notices!

GirlinAZ will become famous soon enough
I would (and plan to) move to Hawaii. I like happy medium. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. I moved here from Chicago some time ago and that was too cold. It is too hot here: thus the choice. Also, it is paradise. Any potential drawbacks are much less than dealing with the weather here. Aloha and mahalo.
