Was just down in Yuma last month - it really has grown and has a lot of shopping - but, still is aways from being anywhere near a Scottsdale and I surely would not want to live there (not even if you paid me).
But if it's your thing, I wish you well. ![]() |

Kearny, AZ- small, quiet, and boring. It does have your necessities, a lake, small town activities, away from the cities...but havent been there for a couple of years. Old friends of mine who still live there tell me how quiet it has gotten. But, like I said, I haven't been there for awhile- so this is somewhat heresay. Check it out though and post it here!

Too small for me. I like medium size towns and big cities with at least 3-4 bars and a club, a few jobs out there, and housing isn't as expensive. I'm just one of these people that get bored easy, so I need to stay in city areas. There's just more to do.
I don't know. You may be different. You'll probably like Ajo. |

Also known as "boneyard." No thanks! Been there to visit relatives, the folks there are way nasty to anyone under fifty! |

If you 'really' want quiet, theres always the Tohona-O'dham reservation. Its deathly quiet out there, almost hauntingly quiet. Hidden Valley is pretty quiet, and isolated. I dont know much about Ajo, though.

Whether or not you'll like Ajo (Spanish for garlic) depends on the same things you look for in any town, city, or rural area. Ajo is a small traditional Mexican-American desert community; many generations of some families call it home. The key here is *traditional*, as in neighbors helping each other, everyone keeping an eye on all the kids, fun community events, and safe streets. Mining was once an important economic base for Ajo, so there are still faint traces of what might be called a mining-company-town mentality. Small children and adults wanting the world to slow down a bit would be more likely to enjoy Ajo than would teenagers.
