These types of murders have occurred here for a long time but why would anyone be scared or frightened? This was obviously a domestic dispute turned bad. What is worse, that or being a victim of a drive by shooting in Chicago or Detroit? A lot of murders or assault that occur in other cities involve innocent victims that were assaulted in the street, subway,or a bar/club. That type of crime rarely happens here. The murders that do occur here always seem to occur between a feuding couple that goes haywire. I don't really fear walking in parts of Phoenix at night like I do with other cities. Yeah, maybe the Midwest has less of Boyfriend A killing Girlfriend B in said apartment but they also have a lot more of "walk in this neighborhood at 10 PM and you will get shot" We don't really have that. AZ doesn't have droves of crack houses and shanty buildings in ghettos and barrios like other cities in the U.S. For all the crap we get about not having a downtown, those same critical fools forget to credit us for lacking those criminal aspects.

And you are the same person who says Arizona is more dangerous than the Midwest when the Midwest has cities known for its crime like Detroit, Gary, IN, and Cincinnati to name a few. Ever been to a White Sox game in Chicago...how is East St. Louis? And you wonder why people are critical of you

I have lived "elsewhere".
I have traveled the United States extensively (all 50 states and its territories).
And, I would NOT call anywhere but Arizona HOME.

Ur causing more harm then good so just leave.
Back to the story, I have not heard what happen, and no one has really explained it yet. From what I have gathered from these posts it seem there was a shooting at a graduation?
Edit: Nvm found the story myself: http://www.azfamily.com/yahoo_rss/st...9c6a7.html?npc Such a shame.

This type of stuff happens everywhere, for crying out loud! This crime has less than nothing to do with location and everything to do with domestic problems and jealousy. How sad for the little boy who saw his mother murdered and then was shot by his own father. He will be scarred for life. Who cares if it happened in Mesa, Tulsa, or Buffalo, NY--it's just sad.

krock,
i don't think the folks on the forum are attacking you personally i would say it is more your original post. A statement like "all people in Chicago are mafia or crooks would be a broad statement. Your opinion is your opinion but the Midwest (especially larger cities) don't bother to report ALL the crime that happens because it would be way too much to report. Born and raised in the Midwest; i happen to think the southwest is one of the most beautiful places in the country. Given the current state of our country, who cares were your from, let's agree to disagree on issues like "which area of the country has more violent crime?"

I live in the Kansas City area and am planning to relocate to suburban Phoenix in a few years. If you compare the "PER CAPITA" crime rate in Phoenix with the "PER CAPITA" crime rate in Kansas City, you will find that Kansas City's rate is MUCH higher. In fact, in most Midwestern cities, the same holds true. You also have to realize that taxes are much higher in the Midwest. When was the last time you saw a Midwestern city take top honors for Quality of Life? It will likely not happen in our lifetimes.

i have to agree with you there tflowers. I have never been to Kansas City, MO but if it is a bigger city like Chicago there is alot of news, in my opinion, that does not make the papers or tv so you'd have to investigate like you just did to get actual numbers. I did not investigate like you did but common sense would say: "more population, more crime"
