That's not the point that I brought up. The point I was making was that heterosexuality is on display ALL the time
|
And get it through your thick head that the reason heterosexuality is on display all of the time is because the overwhelming majority of the world's population is heterosexual. It is a simple numbers game. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I never said it wasn't.
I said why should folks get upset because they see a couple of Gays holding hands? It doesn't matter if it's the "norm" or not. If you live in an all White neighborhood does that mean you should get upset when you see a couple of Black folks walking down the street. I would expect you probably NOTICE them (just because they would be different) - but that's not the same thing as "getting upset" about it. Folks get upset about Gays for doing the exact same thing Straight folks do every single day.

people get upset about gays because it isn't the "norm"...a typical, straight relationship is respected and not freaky...so any PDA by straights, while possibly excessive, is at least perceived as normal behavior, ultimately.....
just sayin'!
take a look at this new Calvin Klein Jeans billboard in NYC that's getting some media attention...three topless guys, a topless woman - all getting ready to have sex or just finishing....(maybe?)

Very true, people get upset when their small minds can't understand the world isn't black and white, or just gay and straight! I TAKE EXTREME OFFENSE TO THAT CALVIN KLEIN JEANS BILLBOARD!!! THERE IS A WOMAN IN IT!!! UGH! LOL
In all seriousness, I too get somewhat put off at any "extreme" PDA; a lot has to do with me being raised as an Army brat and being in the military myself. I learned to not show so much public affection and that was expected of me as well.

I didn't know there was a TLA for PDA.

What a shame this thread devolved into bigotry. If you don't like gays why the H did you post here? What is this freaking obsession you people have with all things gay? Why do you feel compelled to make yourselves look like real bigots by promoting viewpoints unsupported by reality? Do you think your God looks favorably upon such comments and beliefs? For shame. I guess if the OP was black--oh wait, that's not acceptable anymore. But badmouthing and joking about gay people, that's still acceptable, isn't it? You people make me sick.
I'm sure the OP has probably reconsidered moving here. Didn't I just hear tires squealing in the distance? The only place where gay people can be comfortable and feel supported in their community is in LARGE communities. Phoenix's gay population is not centralized like it is in other metro areas though it does seem to be very broadly centered at 7th St. & Camelback. The best places to feel accepted and free, however, are Scottsdale and Tempe. It is so true that the better educated are more tolerant and both these cities have that type of population, generally speaking. Tucson suffers from it being relatively adjacent to Phoenix, much like San Jose does in its proximity to San Francisco despite it being the larger city. (Read: if you're gay, you live near SF rather than SJ). If you're truly bohemian and have money to live off of (because jobs might be hard to find), I've heard that the wonderful "town" of Jerome might be a good choice. I'd love to live there myself. Flagstaff might be OK since has the reputation of being the most liberal city in the state. However, anywhere else, and you'll see the proverbial tumbleweeds as your being gay will not be met with any excitement or acceptance.

Huh? There is one homophobe airing his bigotry on this thread as far as I can see - hardly a devolution. I don't think that poster even lives here as he seems to know little about the area. Other than that, the OP got some pretty straight answers, I think.

Lot of difference between homosexuality and race....a person is born black or Hispanic, but sexual orientation is a behavior......and you can declare it until the cows come home, but I have yet to see one piece of definitive proof showing that a person is "born gay".....if I were black or Hispanic (which my wife and daughters are) I think I would be sorely offended whenever my situation and travails were compared to that of the gays.
I personally know several gay people very well....and in EVERY case they were preyed upon by an older homosexual when they were between 12 and 17......I could tell you who and where in each situation (if I were so inclined...but I am not)......so as far as I can see gays are made or make a choice.....but they are not born that way.
I do not believe in mistreating anybody or taking away any human right....but the drive by the homosexual community for special civil rights is ridiculous. IMHO

No one is asking for "special civil rights." We are asking for the same rights that you have being straight. Also, I WAS born gay, I never made a choice to be sexually attracted to one sex or the other. I never was asked what sex would you like to be naturally attracted to; sorry but it just doesn't work that way. I also am sorry that "all" the gays you've met have been preyed upon by an older homosexual predator, but I was not and I do not know any one who has been save two people out of the hundreds of gays that I have known. I do know over 20 straights that were victims of abuse and sexual abuse however. Furthermore, I was raised in a VERY straight culture. My parents were in the military for 25 years, I myself served for 6 years and played sports my entire life. Not once was I my environment girly or did I not receive affection from either parent. I think that environmental factors and lack of affection from a parent figure is bogus and a stereotype. This is America and you have the right to your own opinion, but don't force it on others as fact. Cool? Thank you for your tolerance as I don't need your acceptance. I tolerate your views and beliefs but I don't have to accept them either. Good day sir.
