nightlife IN Yuma??
Hi everyone,
I am about to transition out of the Army and have a great opportunity as a civilian at the proving grounds as a test engineer.
I did quite a bit of searching already and found a lot of great info, but am curious about what a single, fun-loving, 30 yr old would do for NIGHTLIFE fun IN Yuma....meaning: without having to travel like 2 hours to get to the bigger cities or what not.
I am currently in Killeen, TX.....aka "Fort Hood" and although it's not like home (S. Florida), there are enough clubs and local things to do (restaurant/hangouts, sports bars, etc) to keep me entertained when I'm in that kind of mood.
I'm also a big outdoor fan. Love to ride off-road and love the water/lake thing that you all have going on....so that will be great. But that kind of stuff is usually an all day event kind of thing or needs a little bit of planning, etc. Sometimes, i just want a quick and spontaneous fix of entertainment and not this whole orchestrated event.
I'd like to be able to jump in my Hot Rod, cruise for 15-20 minutes and park it at a hangout or something like that, for instance. Does Yuma have that sort of thing going on?
Also, (this may be funny) but I have this "TV stereotype" thing in my head about miles and miles of open/rolling highway. I love that too...great for motorcycle riding and crusing the Hot Rod as well....but is that a reality in the Yuma area? Are there any hangouts just in the middle of nowhere out there as well?
I guess what I'm getting at is this.....I like to do the "get lost" for a day outdoors thing just as much as the random 11pm phone call saying lets go hit the club.
Will Yuma fit that bill? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated (sorry so dang long)

nothing. really there is nothing here. old crappy little bars. most people go to mexico but now that is hard to do if you dont have a passport. going to the harkins theater that is big here. its way toooooo hot to go to a park here right now and wont be cool enough to do so until like november now unless you like going at 6 am which its pretty nice out then. a hangout well i dont know if you call it a hangout in the middle of nowhere but by where you are working there is a place called martenez lake and they have a little bar there that some friends of mine went to and they liked it. but it might be closed for summer dont know. the lake is really a big mud hole. there are no clubs here like you are thinking of, and this is nothing like florida. tooo hot, and too small. sorry

I'm more into the open-road, four-wheeling thing....
during the seven or so coolest months of the year (Oct-April), the areas NE of Yuma are fantastic for off-road exploring....the Kofa Mountains area, the Castle Dome Mts. and more...lots of back roads, great desert country, primitive camping, views, rugged hills....take your choice of roads heading to the E off highway 95 about 30-50 miles N of Yuma.....most of it is BLM public land.....
drink water, keep yourself shaded, bring a spare

there is a salsa dancing lounge on Pacific across from Walmart as well as a few places I hear their commercials. I also hear crazy earls is a happening place too. I love yuma and am very happy here! The Mexican food here is great too!
What kind of bike you got? The great "street" rides start about 200mi away but dirt is in your backyard I have been meaning to get me a dual sport but I be broke! I keep spending it all on my Ninja to get her more touring friendly, I rode over 1500mi up to UT memorial weekend! boy was that a blast!
I also work at YPG!!!! I love working here! Those 3 day weekends are PERFECT!!!!
Feel free to ask me any questions!
and don't listen to jaada

In summer, Nightlife is about the only life many of those people have there. During the day, you might go to oldtown and try out Lute's Casino, which is nothing more than a cool beer bar with great hamburgers in an atmosphere of the old days of the 30s and 40s. If you are ever in El Centro, their place use to be the Owl Cafe next to the old Womack Chevrolet building. Although I think someone said the original owner died and it was sold to Mexicali interests. How fun could that be now?

Love the negativity with some posts :::rolling eyes:::
Buffalo Wild Wings: good sports bar, usually packed on the weekends
Crazy Earl's: karaoke bar, meat market but you can still have a good time
Jimmy D's: small but dancing and drinking; have seen a fight there and someone was stabbed there last year so I avoid it
Yuma Palms Mall: lots of shops (that's where B Dub's is) and a movie theater

lol....thanks for the replies. I was out of town and just got back on the forums. It seems as if I may get by alright out there if I take that job.......heading out there next week for a 3-day visit and will make the call then I guess!
Bikerchick: As for street, I just sold my V-ROD and am looking at the Nighttrains (Harley talk)......love 'em! I don't think i'd ever own a crotch rocket again b/c i am a speed nut, and to be honest, when i get on some HP, I ride way too hard for my own good!
So currently, I am only riding off-road and the fleet consists off an BIG RED ATC (old 3-wheeler) and a YZ 250. They are both a blast to ride. Dual sports are cool and actually seem like a great idea for an area like Yuma.
Thanks again!

Check out the Yuma Fun Factory while you're here. Nice party atmosphere and great bartenders (lots of beautiful young ladies to)
