Flagstaff weather must be amazing
We are currently in a heat wave here in the central U.S. It's been above 90 since the 15th, with the last 4-5 days near 100. It's been humid too up until yesterday. Right now at nearly 11am it's already 93 but with just 32% humidity making it feel like 92. The other thing that is exhausting is no temperatures below 70, even for lows!
It must be great considering this is about as hot as you ever get there. I saw that the all-time record is 97. We will be there by noon today. I just stepped outside and said if this is the hottest it ever gets during the summer, I'm in heaven.
My parents are considering Flagstaff for a first retirement location but it will be another 8 years until then. I've got 3 years left of college myself. Flagstaff may be hard to get a job in, but if I can, I'm all there.

I could use a couple of those over 90 days. We have had about 5 days straight here in central Maine of rain and gray skys with temps in low 60s. Just doesn't seem fair when our summers are so short.
back in the 90's we spent a few hours in Flagstaff on our way either to or from the Grand Canyon. Wish it could have been longer. We also spent several days in Sedona. Thought I had died and gone to heaven. The month of the year was May and it was perfect.

Remember that Flag winters are cold SOB's; not so much the daytime highs but, at night, we are discussing an average of 14F. Too, frost is a real issue 8-9 months out of the year.

Flagstaff is at about 6800 - 7000 ft elevation. So it does get real cold during the winter and the summers are usually mild. I like the area in the Fall when the leaves turn color - simply beautiful .

My parents are from the upper Midwest. A Flagstaff winter is mild to them While still having winter, they don't wish to retire in the south.

What 14F...
This year, 45 mintues sound of Chicago, it got -14F for 12 days. 14F is a heat wave! I have a little girl that is going to college up there at NAU and she gets all the 4 seasons. When she first left for college, about 6 years ago, she couldn't wait to play in the snow...now she hates it!

There are several things about Flagstaff I don't care for, but climate is NOT one of them! I honestly don't think I've ever lived any place that has more ideal (for me) weather.

It's 93 with a 46 dew point and 20% humidity here right now. All this with clear skies and light winds too. Very rare for it to be this dry and calm in the Summer here. Loving every minute of it though, humidity does make all the difference.
Out of curiosity, how often do you Flagstaff residents use your A/C in the Summer? Or do you even have A/C? Also, how long do you "typically" run heat during the year? Around here we usually run heat constantly through February, in March either the heat is on or windows are open. During April the windows are almost always open. In May either windows are open or the air is on and from mid June - mid September the A/C is on constantly. From mid September - October either the A/C is on or windows open and then finally from November through February again the heat is on.

Flagstaff does have great Spring, Summer and Autumn weather, however, due to the elevation as Humboldtrat already addressed . . . BOOGER WINTERS.
I've wandered around the country and so far . . . I'll stick with Tucson.

And Bummer and I are both from the Wash DC area----------need I say more about its hoe-bag winters (and summers)?
