Land tax question
how does it work in Arizona? I looked all over the place and found real estate tax and estate tax but no "land" tax, "deed" tax, im unsure what word they use for "land tax"

Property tax, assessed by the county in which the land is located.

Right. Why is that confusing? Land is property.

W1ngzer0 -
Yes you still pay property tax on vacant land. It's much lower than that for developed land of course - for the simple reason that undeveloped property is appraised lower than developed property. We pay a couple of hundred bucks a year on our undeveloped acre SE of Tucson.

Seems clear enough to me... why would only occupied land be subject to PROPERTY tax?

You mean by not paying their property taxes? I wouldn't describe it that way. You get the bill, you pay the taxes (which are really low on vacant land) you keep the property. Nothing wrong with that.

You have 10 acres. The surrounding land somehow skyrockets in value because of developed area surrounding your land. your land skyrockets in value, your taxes skyrocket, and you can no longer afford to pay taxes.
Is this correct?
