That is bullsh*t. Potential racial profiling is the only publicized reason for not approving the bill.

Amazing. Talk about how crazy is that! Just yesterday was the headline and today the rejection.

An interesting loophole but not really of much concern. They enter legally, pay thousands of dollars for a medical procedure which they pay for privately, and as a consequence of pumping thousands upon thousands of dollars into the U.S. economy and local economy are granted citizenship. Sounds like a reasonable "cost" for earning citizenship. Most immigrants who are granted citizenship are given this great status because of luck of the draw in the lottery and after paying thousands of dollars to become citizens.

This might sound somewhat snotty but would you rather a poor family come here illegally to have a baby at a hospital in which the tax payer becomes liable and the baby is granted citizenship anyway and maybe offered some welfare for years to come? Or a family that can afford to pay its own way for services rendered and has come in good faith and legally in which the child is the only one offered citizenship? On top of that, the parents of these children go back to Mexico and the children often return to pursue schooling and work in which they have the means and ability to be productive and not rely on government handouts. Since these kid's parents do not pay taxes in the U.S. they must pay for school out of pocket which pumps in "fresh" money from a different country.
