This might sound somewhat snotty but would you rather a poor family come here illegally to have a baby at a hospital in which the tax payer becomes liable and the baby is granted citizenship anyway and maybe offered some welfare for years to come? Or a family that can afford to pay its own way for services rendered and has come in good faith and legally in which the child is the only one offered citizenship? On top of that, the parents of these children go back to Mexico and the children often return to pursue schooling and work in which they have the means and ability to be productive and not rely on government handouts. Since these kid's parents do not pay taxes in the U.S. they must pay for school out of pocket which pumps in "fresh" money from a different country.
