Florence is the county seat. Florence is an old city. Has a Main Street. Florence never really grew in population. Most of downtown, like most small cities, has declined. It's still there but not the glory days of before shopping malls. Florence city is also home of the state prison, the county prision, and Arizona Homeland Security facility. But they are all on the east side of town.
Because of these facilities, Florence is a safe place to live. There is no shortage of Florence police or County Sheriff police.
Queen Creek and the expansion of the Phoenix 'valley' develpments. Queen Creek, just north of Florence has had massive developments. And a couple of these developments crept south toward Florence. Del Webb community is on the city line about 7 miles outside Florence city. With desert in between. Del Webb anthem was annexed by the city of Florence. This happens all the time in Arizona - as cities incorporate new housing developments out in the desert.
Del Webb Anthem is a large residential community with schools and a fire house. Recreation buildings and golf courses. At the entrance to Anthem are stores - grocery gas.
This Del Webb community is fine. All of new Arizona has tiny lots with homes on them. Real tiny. People pay a premium to have the back of home on golf course. Sometimes a high premium.
Fly in rent a car and drive around.
Real smart people rent a year before buying a home.
