The Wal-mart Super Center opened in 2003. It relocated from further west on Florence Blvd.

I do not know if you have made up your mind, but something to consider is commuting. If living in CG is not for you, there is always South Chandler/ Chandler Heights that is 20 miles North on I-10. That is a very nice area and is not too far from most of the Tempe scene. Casa Grande is growing, and if you are looking to buy a home, this would be a good place to do it. Prices are good and there are a lot of plans for near future developement. They are opening a large outdoor Westcor Mall at the end of the year and that will have a Target and a Harkins Theatres among many other things. Anyway, I do know a little about the city, I am a commuter and its not bad at all. So if you have any more questions feel free to hit me back...

7 Years ago I would have asked "Why would you wanna move to Casa Grande?" But it has grown considerably since then and now it has the small city feel.
I have a friend who lives there, and she also said that the area has grown in the past few years. I'm an Arizona native and I remember just 3 years ago, when I drove through Casa Grande on the way to Tucson, it was just a little farming town, not much there. Now there are many subdivisions going up all around the city. If you like the small city lifestyle, then CG is a good choice to start your career. |

Ive lived here in Casa Grande for about 8 years now and it depends on what you like to do. If youre into partying, clubbing, you might check out cities out in the valley. This is a small town (but growing). I came out here from Phx for two reasons. One, being a job offer and two, to get out of the city. But too, just like any other city or town, you want to make sure of what part of town you want to live. Definately stay north of the RR tracks! There are apt complexes that are still reasonable, some even have that 199.00 move in special. Aspen Court, well, avg rent there for a 2 BR would be around 550, give or take. Centerpark, nicer, but very small, and 2 BRs there around 565 (give or take).
Then theres Cottonwood Crossing, pretty roomy, and they do have that sliding scale where you can pay according to your income or you can just pay the regular rent there and Im not sure what their 2 BR's go for. I can give you ideas of many places and being that I've rented from several places here already (leased) might be able to fill you in on whatever you might need to know. If you want a house, there are places up fro rent but most of those average around 700-1000 month, depending on where it is. I saw one recently up for rent, kinda small, right here in the historic district but they wanted 975 for it....ouch! You can try to set your criteria in rent.com and they might be able to point you in the right direction. But again, keep in mind, what type of work you do is a factor, too, there may be commuting involved. Last edited by Livewire; 06-04-2007 at 10:05 AM. Reason: typos |

I am a 25 year old married woman who loves to dance and drink once in awhile....you will not find much of a "night life" in Casa Grande.....I`ve lived in a couple different countries both of which had great bars and shopping. It was a shock moving back, but great if you are starting a family.Chandler or Phx would probably be a better option.....good luck!

My wife and I have been considering a move from Michigan to AZ for several years, always going in mid July, at its hottest. We love the heat, and know that we'll have nice weather while there. Must have made a big impression on our daughter, she beat us to the move, settling in Peoria last summer. She loves it.
Am wondering about the commute north to Tempe, where I was recently offered a job. Seems like if there were an accident, the only way north would be backed up for hours. Other that that concern, we love the small town feel of Casa Grande, or possibly Maricopa. |

We are new here in Casa Grande and are from Albuquerque. The smell is here but not as bad as Maricopa, East Chandler and East Gilbert. We would like to put a "Shout Out" to young folks, parents, and grandparents before AZ falls further to become like NM. We left Albq partially because of the crime, sex offenders and high quantity of unwed pregnancys (we have 3 sons). NM leads the nation with 52% of babies born to single women. This one demographic contributes to soo many social issues. Wake up young people! Starting out that way is like letting most of the air out of the tires on your first car. Everything is much more dificult than it needs to be and your community resources (or parents resources) are now going to help you instead of YOU helping it through the taxes you pay while you are working. Parents- Have the sex talk with your teens even though YOUR parents didn't! Central AZ has a bright future, great weather, reasonable housing costs, a college and 2 major job markets close by.

I dont know of any apt complex that charge $1,000 out here! But Ive leased a few and can give you more specs on some of them if youd like. Toss me a message if you still need them. |

I am a 32 year old single female moving to CG from Michigan in 2 weeks. One of my brothers lives in Glendale, and my other brother and sister live in Goodyear. My parents are also moving out here with me. I'm not into the big city life, so a small town atmosphere will suit me wonderful. In fact, I'm very excited.
