Idaho will become famous soon enoughIdaho will become famous soon enough
Tough choices, but Tucson's Veteran's Center Medical care has better reputation than Phoenix. I know vets who live in Casa Grande and they have option of using either facility - They use Tucson, and there's a van that picks them up at a central spot in Casa Grande to the VA and back.

That won't address your hot/cold weather issue or your creepy crawly issue - except that there is a/c in most if not all housing here, and a good dose of bug spray around the perimeter of my house a couple times a year seems to keep the critters away pretty well.

openeyes is on a distinguished road
Default you might try...

show low is lower elevation and has a hospital, pinetop/lakeside is also nice,
we also wanted to stay in Arizona, but rising costs are driving us out to new mexico. we found a 3 bedroom home there to purchase on 1/2 acre for $85,000 a similar home in arizona would range from $150,000 to $185,000.
arizona is a beautiful state, we have worn blinders for years refusing to leave.
now that we have reluctanlty removed them, we found the world is not so bad across the border. good luck!
