Default The heat!

Hi, i'm new! But I just wanted to say, isn't the heat here RIDICULOUS? it was 105 degrees at 8:45 the other night. My Lab mix puppy I got from Idaho can't stand it! Poor little guy. He's getting used to it though.

For every negative, Clare . . . there is a positive.

Remember this post and in a few months both you and the puppy will wonder why you made it.

My neighbors get summer clips for their dogs. Laughlin can be like a blast furnace. I always carry a frozen water bottle in a cooler. I hold it close to my nose, and breathe in the cooled air till I reach a cooler place. There are times that the air can almost scorch your lungs. If I get too hot, I hug a frozen pop bottle full of ice. It cools my blood down. Actually, the humid season is worse than the bone dry air, at least for me.

Oh - didn't anyone tell you? The snowbirds go home, and Hell moves to Phoenix every summer. Just like clockwork.

Oh well! We just do air conditioning, drink lots of ice tea, and wait for the beeeeeeyoooootiful weather to come back.

It's no surprise that Arizona (at least the southern half of the state) is very hot during the summer. You should have known that before you moved here. Although, I will admit that our summers seem to be getting hotter overall. It's a combination of two things: persistent high pressure systems that block Pacific systems & the summer monsooon moisture from giving us much relief from the heat ... and ... the urban heat island effect in the Phoenix metro area. There used to be a time when even the hottest days would cool off nicely at night, but not so much anymore.

July and August are usually the worst months here for the heat. September can be hot too, but it usualy becomes more pleasant during the late night & early morning hours by the middle part of September. October is still quite warm, but it will usually cool off nicely by about Halloween. November through April are usually very pleasant months in terms of temperature.
